This might get me in trouble, but I think Physical Therapists should be doing WAY fewer tech follow-ups & treatments Here's why: There's more money to be made with evaluation codes compared to treatment codes. PTs are doing way more treatments and follow-ups compared to evaluations. Instead, assistants and extenders should be the ones doing the majority of the treatments. This comes right from APTA website -Link in comments- "In its 2024 PFS rule, CMS proposed a conversion factor update of $32.7476, a 3.3% decrease from the $33.8872 conversion factor adopted in 2023. The proposal continues a concerning trend, as CMS is again forcing physical therapists and other providers to absorb the impact of decreasing payment rates as a result of year-to-year cuts. While the cuts remain a critical issue, other proposals would greatly benefit the PT profession and need your support! CMS has proposed to extend virtual direct supervision until the end of 2024, make general supervision the standard for PTAs in all settings when performing RTM services and is finally considering and soliciting comments on whether to make PTA supervision in private practice general rather than the direct supervision.  CMS also needs to hear from PTs on the quality payment program: while good changes like the adoption of a low-back pain cost measure in MIPS and an MVP on musculoskeletal care mean there are more meaningful ways for PTs to participate the new requirement that PTs report in the Promoting Interoperability category of MIPS may prove extremely burdensome for many providers."

How many physical therapists are actively working to enhance the reputation of their profession? What steps are individual physical therapists taking towards this goal? Globally, physical therapists or physiotherapists often do not receive the respect or compensation they deserve. Many people within the healthcare industry are unfamiliar with the scope and benefits of physical therapy. I recently came across a post about a hospital organizing an event where personal trainers educate doctors about exercises. This raises the question: why are physical therapists and exercise physiologists overlooked in such initiatives?
