Introducing Ida Hugander, one of our interns, who is spending her summer working with the Analysys Mason team in Sweden. We caught up with her to see how her experience has been so far: Q: What was your most significant learning experience during your internship? Ida: It was working on a report about the Swedish mobile market. I updated data for the major operators and analysed recent trends and regulations in the sector. Additionally, I reviewed the results of the 2023 spectrum auction and identified key takeaways. Although I was initially unfamiliar with the TMT sector, I embraced the challenge and gained a deeper understanding of its complexities. This project not only expanded my knowledge but also enhanced my proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Q: Can you describe a project or task you’re particularly proud of? Ida: I am particularly proud of my contribution to a project on equality and sustainability. I conducted research, reached out to potential contacts, and assisted with PowerPoint presentations. The project's goal was to promote equality in the bioeconomy sector. Being part of Analysys Mason’s efforts in these critical areas was incredibly rewarding, as I had the opportunity to contribute to meaningful change. Q: What skills have you developed or improved during your internship? Ida: I deepened my understanding of the tech and telecoms industries and their societal impact. Additionally, I significantly enhanced my technical skills in tools such as PowerPoint and Excel. Q: What have you enjoyed most about working with your colleagues? Ida: I have truly enjoyed the welcoming and supportive atmosphere among my colleagues. From day one, I felt included and valued, which greatly enriched my experience. Engaging in discussions with my colleagues further enhanced my learning journey. Q: What advice would you give to future interns? Ida: Embrace this opportunity for professional growth. Approach your tasks with confidence and don’t hesitate to ask for help!

𝐈𝐓 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬: 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐠𝐚𝐩? The competition for skilled talent in IT is intensifying. And the statistics are eye-opening: • 86% of CIOs reported increased challenges in finding qualified candidates, according to Gartner. • 1.2 million: The shortage of tech talent in the U.S. by 2026, projected by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. To stay ahead, workforce planning is critical. The Cincinnati CIO Roundtable in partnership with INTERalliance hosted our annual intern summit at NKU earlier this week, and once I again I got to spend lunch talking with groups of really impressive interns from organizations throughout the greater Cincinnati area. As always, I was blown away by the energy, engagement, and thoughtful questions that the attendees asked. Here are three takeaways: 1. A lot of young folks need to see us being human. Every year, I talk about being an introvert, challenging myself to get out of my shell, and about techniques I used to intentionally handle social situations better. Every year interns light up when they hear that and ask question after question based on their own experiences. If you get the chance, talk about how you've grown, how it felt, and where you struggled. 2. A lot of our careers look like a fixed path from outside. Attendees were often relieved to hear about lateral paths and how broad experiences tended to help the senior IT folks in the room progress in our careers. 3. We need to create more opportunities for teenagers and early career folks to gain access to people at every level of our organizations for conversations like these! And most importantly - if there's not something like this in your area yet, it's worth doing: https://lnkd.in/eN_abKNE Big thanks to Geoff Smith and Gregory Simpson for their role in making this happen!

There is perhaps no more important mission in the gas markets than to expose young people to the nature and importance of energy security, natural gas' critical role in carbon emissions reduction, support for America's Allies around the globe for energy access, use of a native US resource to support a manufacturing renaissance here in the US...the list goes on. Thanks to Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline and Shawn Patterson for pursuing this mission. If young people, or anyone frankly, want to learn more about natural gas' critical role for a clean energy future, check out Natural Allies for a Clean Energy Future
I am thrilled to welcome our 2024 interns to Southern Star this summer! Each of these talented individuals will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in our culture while they collaborate with and learn from our team. We look forward to helping our interns grow in this step of their career journey. #SouthernStarProud #Internship2024 #WelcomeInterns #OneTeam

I have come to realize over the years the importance of time. There is so little time in our lives to complete what we would like to do and what we must do. There is no difference within the workplace. There are so many new school programs out there that include an internship portion of the program, however, once the graduate enters this portion of their program, there is still quite a learning curve ahead of them. For those students who may have a very short period to learn and experience all they would like to learn and, well, need to learn to give them an efficient head start within the working world regardless of their age or background, this curve eats up a great chunk of their internship period. I was fortunate enough to be granted the opportunity to move around the clinic where I interned and had the opportunity to learn as much as I could absorb within the time I was there. The fact that I am a notorious note-taker, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to further my ability to show my skills and talents in other office-related areas by creating a working manual for the company's future interns so that they would be enabled to hit the ground running once they began. Not only did this manual assist future interns in an easier acclimation period, but it also saved the office staff time in having to train the interns from the beginning because there were already notes they could follow that took them through the steps. Only if they were stuck or did not understand a particular step would they be required to ask any questions. Personally, this process works for me, because I like to make the most of the time that I am in the office. I like to accomplish as much as I can both efficiently and effectively. I do enjoy creating more effective and efficient processes that help one to work easier, not harder. What about you?
