Heads up for those in Flemington! GDOT will be activating a new signalized intersection this Wednesday (August 7th) at the intersection of US 84 and Old Sunbury Road in Liberty County. This signal is among the final elements of the Department’s operational improvement project which encompasses the realignment of Old Sunbury Road and Old Hines Road and US 84 turn lanes. This $5.6 million project at Flemington Curve will enhance safety and improve mobility at this busy intersection. **Drivers are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through the area. First Day of the EV Charging Infrastructure USA 2024 Conference kicked off today, here in Anaheim California.  So many good speakers and great discussions, starting with the State of the EV Charging Market in the USA.  Further into in some of my favorite discussions on building out the infrastructure and some of the challenges we have been faced with along the way,  such as utilities, delays in electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers and Breakers.  ABB explained there ways of addressing these challenges by creating pre-engineering solutions allowing for flexibility in developing for today, but thinking about the tomorrow.  Managing risk by making it – Safe, Scalable, Simple and Smart.  Blink followed up by going through how they have learned by going through the methodology for determining the best site feasibility, Power requirements/utility coordination, Site Engineering design, permitting and construction drawings, streamlining Project Management and finally Testing/Validation/Client training.   Continuing on the same path as Blink, BGIS spelled out their methods and needs for training and certifications for contractors and end users. Learning to design with Operations in mind, meaning starting at the beginning and coming up with the best practices for locations for equipment, network connectivity, safety and security while charging.  All the sessions were very insightful and I look forward to another day tomorrow.  Great meeting all those I was able to get around to speak with and look forward to partnering and building a network together. When the Fern Hollow Bridge in Pittsburgh’s Frick Park collapsed, four people sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Had the bridge collapsed an hour later, during peak commuter time, it could have been a different story. Following the collapse, an emergency project team was assembled and given the green light to start working on the rebuild immediately. With conventional methods, replacing a bridge this size typically would have taken three to four years, plus the time required to redesign the bridge, plan the bridge construction, obtain approvals, prepare the site, and install substructure elements.
