#projects Another great mass timber project! At the end of last year ENCODE has been contracted to deliver a complete design-to-production service for the timber roof structure of the Browne Park Stadium redevelopment in preparations for the Brisbane 2032 Summer Olympics. Together with a great team of engineers we have developed the design intent of the Architect to manufacturing stage, capturing and resolving structural, manufacturing, assembly and installation requirements. The pioneering design of the timber roof allows for a 12 metre cantilever over the grandstand and addresses sustainability in venue construction, making the finished grandstand one of the first timber-roofed stadiums in Queensland, and the longest cantilevered timber structure in Australia. Virtual Construction and the data-driven parametric approach has brought several benefits to the project, which could be summerized in “building the project digitally before physically”, anticipating complexity, leveraging prefabrication and de-risking the subsequent phase of construction. We can’t wait to see it built in the upcoming future.
