Football training in the winter can be chaotic. It's cold, and often windy and rainy. It is almost impossible to explain new concepts in training (unless you have the luxury of an indoor venue). However, the growth of online platforms to share ideas, can help. While a detailed explanation of a new formation, principle or skill may not be possible on a rainy winter day, a short animated video sent to players before training certainly is. Over the last couple of years, I have enjoyed creating short videos for players and teams to use as part of their pre-game/pre-match activity. E.g. here is a video I made to help players receive passes in more space https://lnkd.in/dDx76_N - this allows the players to learn, understand and visualise the main components of the skill before training so that during training/matches the players can practice applying it. 2023 has been filled with thrilling projects, encounters, collaborations, challenges and milestones - I was honored to be able to tell a little about them in the latest Luxemburger Wort issue. Besides covering past and ongoing projects, the article contains an announcement that I am excited to share also here: our Team MIDAS will organize in 2025 the MathSport International conference in Luxembourg 😃 🤩 It will be the 9th edition of this popular conference that combines mathematics and sports. Dates are not yet known, but it will take place between May and July 2025. Keep it already in your minds, we will do our best to stand up to the high expectations surrounding this stimulating conference. On a personal note, the MathSport conference in 2013 at the Katholieke Universiteit te Leuven organized by Dries Goossens was my first contact with sports research and pretty much the reason why I am pursuing this research today 😊 I am happy to now have the opportunity to organize this conference with my team, and I wish we can inspire other people and show how mathematics can be used nicely used in a popular context like sports. #sports #mathematics #statistics #sportsanalytics #interview https://lnkd.in/ezN5Q6Xg
