The #US #government has unveiled new security guidelines aimed at bolstering critical #infrastructure against artificial intelligence (#AI)-related threats. "These guidelines are informed by the whole-of-government effort to assess AI risks across all sixteen critical infrastructure sectors, and address threats both to and from, and involving AI systems," the #DepartmentofHomelandSecurity (#DHS) said.

Between the militarization of cybersecurity and the weaponizing of AI, I think a lot of newer security people are under the impression that this is normal or even cool. It isn't. When Google turns down a contract for ethical reasons, you know it has to be some dark shit. If Palantir is involved in any way, you should be VERY scared. This project has taken a road paved with blood, and it is just the beginning. I left the DoD/DIA/XXX/123 because so few people had moral objections to certain activities, and there were some lines I would not cross. Those that did have issue, and had the courage to voice it, were quickly "corrected." I moved from Maine to DC because I wanted to do what I love to improve the lives of many, but I quickly learned that when an agency or company says "we want to make the world a better place," what most of them mean is "we want to swim in money and/or power without any fear of consequences." The human collateral of barely tested high tech weapons and analysis systems is calculated and accepted. I'm not okay with that. I've walked away from obscene amounts of money and a lot of sociopaths with free reign many times. I realize wholly and humbly how lucky I've been to have that luxury - and even have the opportunity to be in such situations. I've worked with and befriended dozens of the kindest, smartest souls on this globe. I work from a beautiful home office in a giant and very needy historic house three miles from Philadelphia. And I married the most wonderful, compassionate, amazing woman two years ago - which also included a young boy that makes me realize there is indeed hope for the future! I strive to work with people for whom the first thing they ask before deploying a system or product is "will this cause harm to humans at any level," and "is this the best way to do this securely?" Dodging all the malignant narcissist "leadership" sniffing Adderall in the bathrooms at RSA before meeting with customers is hard - they mask well, though. Same for people that spend 99% of their work time refreshing the stock ticker to see how much money they didn't earn inflate their RSUs. How much money does one need to be happy? Ethics, integrity, honesty, and openness. These should not be unrealistic goals.
