The Dragons kept us on our toes for 2 hours in the den, and although the version was amazing, we would like to add a few vital points that were edited out. 1. OUR BRAND NAME - ''Stand Out Socks'' - Although it was made to look like Peter had a problem with our brand name, this was spoken about in a conversation about retail and how our products would stand out on a supermarket shelf. We will forever be STAND OUT!!! We won't be changing. 2. WE ARE A BUSINESS - We don't receive any funding or accept donations, we rely on our customers believing in our amazing staff, products, and mission. Steven Bartlett got this concept immediately and made an offer within the first 15 minutes after the pitch. Subsequently, Deborah Meaden removed herself from the negotiations citing we had the dragon we wanted/needed. It was refreshing that all the dragons treated us as a Business Investment... Thank you!! *** Since we launched 2 years ago our socks have helped raise well over £10,000 for charities and played a vital part in creating funds to help launch the Leicester Tigers Down Syndrome rugby team. 3. OUR PRODUCTS - A large segment of textile tycoon Touker Suleyman praising the quality of the socks was not used. With his 50 years of experience in the field, it was amazing to get this feedback. Just a few points that we wanted to get out there!! A special mention to Sara Davies MBE.... she truly is everything you see on TV, an amazing human being and an outstanding businesswoman. "Homelessness is never where the story starts" 💡 Mikkel Juel Iversen is working to transform lives and communities in London. He believes homelessness is not an identity but a situation triggered by many different factors, and this perspective led him to set the foundation for Under One Sky back in 2009. Under One Sky officially became a charity in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic exposed the vulnerability of homeless individuals in London, many of whom had no access to food or essential services. The efforts of Mikkel and his team inspired an influx of volunteers and donations, taking action to mobilize resources and provide immediate relief. Mikkel envisions a future where homelessness is eradicated through collaborative efforts and innovative solutions. His perspective shifts the focus from the condition to the root causes, and his journey from finance and film to philanthropy highlights the power of #resilience, #empathy, and #innovativethinking in addressing complex societal issues. Fighting for a Future World Where Human Rights Are Respected    While around 97% of the articles published in the Lithuanian media are anti-migration, only 2% represent migrants’ stories. Such use of dehumanising language has been used as a weapon against the migrants, causing suffering for many who experienced violent pushbacks at our borders. It is essential that we shed light on the individual stories of these migrants which are often hidden from the public view; the reality is unsettling but it is for this reason that it has to be shared. Director of HRMI, Martynas Jockus, shared the work of our NGO and our mission on Civil Liberties Union for Europe platform. To the UN Secretary-General and world leaders : We stand with the brave women of Afghanistan who are fighting back against their exclusion from crucial talks about the future of their country to appease the Taliban. We call on you to ensure their full and meaningful participation and that the UN ends this shameful exclusion. Special envoys should boycott these talks until this happens Since taking power, the Taliban have done everything they can to undermine and disempower women: girls aren’t allowed to go to school and women aren’t allowed to work. They even use rape and torture to silence women’s rights defenders. Experts call it gender apartheid – and the UN just caved to the Taliban’s demands and kept Afghan women out of crucial talks about the future of their country. But brave Afghan women are fighting back! They’ve just launched a call to boycott these talks until they’re fully included and our global outcry can ensure they’re heard. Raising funds can be tough because we're always asking people to part with money that is stretched in so many different directions.
