#RadiativeForcing is a key concept in understanding #climate change—it measures the difference between the energy entering and leaving the atmosphere🌤🌍🌡 The E-CONTRAIL project is pushing the boundaries of this understanding by focusing on how aviation #contrails contribute to the Earth's energy imbalance. Our first #hypothesis is challenging. However, if confirmed, this could be a game-changer in accurately measuring and managing the environmental impact of #aviation ✈ ⤵ #SESAR3JU #Research #GreenDeal

The past month, February 2024 was the warmest month of record, surpassing the previous record in 2023. #Oceans cover over 70% of the global area. It's time to utilize the range of #ocean-based climate solutions to reduce #greenhousegas #emissions and address the rising #temperatures. A recent study looked at the emission reduction potential of 7 ocean-based sub-sectors including: 1.Scaling ocean-based renewable energy 2.Decarbonising ocean-based transport 3.Conserving and restoring coastal and marine ecosystems 4.Utilising low carbon food from the ocean 5.Developing marine carbon dioxide removal and carbon capture and storage under the seabed 6.Decarbonising ocean-based tourism 7.Reducing offshore oil and gas The ocean regulates our #climate and can significantly buffer the worst impacts of #climatechange, absorbing human-induced #carbondioxide emissions and heat from the atmosphere. However, the #ocean is telling us enough is enough with sea surface temperatures breaking records, sea water becoming increasingly acidic, #oxygen levels depleting and sea level rising. These impacts are no longer projections of change but are real and urgently felt. As ocean conditions worsen, resultant impacts on the marine #environment, #fisheries and livelihoods are still yet to be fully understood. #oceanconservation #oceanliteracy #oceanscience #oceantransportation #oceandecade #oceandecade2024 #blueeconomy #bluecarbon #blueocean #marineconservation #carbonremoval #carbonemissions #marineecosystems #renewableenergy #offshoreoilandgas

Yet more evidence that governments around Australia need to be more ambitious about shifting freight (and people) on rail if we are to meet the Paris Agreement goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees. "Governments would also need to reduce passenger travel by 10 per cent and freight travel by 5 per cent by 2040, while 15 per cent of freight on articulated trucks and 5 per cent on rigid trucks would shift to rail too." With the Commonwealth, NSW, Victorian and Queensland governments all currently reviewing freight strategies, the time is now to address the challenges constraining the efficiency and productivity of rail freight so we can capitalise on the short-term decarbonisation opportunity presented by a shift from road to rail. https://lnkd.in/gdiu7f7A

UK that could be underwater by 2050. Earth Month is a time for us to reflect on the role we play in protecting our planet. Climate change poses a significant threat to the Earth, and we have been warned that we have only two years to save the world. If we do not take action, global warming will exterminate life on the planet by 2030. Let's take a moment to appreciate the efforts of a homegrown nonprofit that is educating people on climate change and sustainability. Their work is crucial in achieving a sustainable future. Remember, there's no planet B. It's time to face the truth and take action. Ask yourself why the negative energy ERIO deficit continues? We cannot solve the energy problem today, with old technology. Again..... our ocean is very important. Do not use the ocean to remove CO2 from the air...the ocean is also our atmosphere...its a cycle. Here is an article on the importance of keeping our oceans clean and getting rid of CO2 in the ocean. https://lnkd.in/djpBg5Ni

#usatoday #solar #euro #filipino #philippines #asean #bali #indonesia #canada #netherlands #france #tahiti #oceania #aquaculture. I like the mangrove solutions, and sucking OUT the Co2 from the oceans. Our oceans are air...water is h2o. So don't spit that co2 back into the ocean with co2 capture that only favors the air...chose co2 companies or solutions that suck out co2 from the oceans and air, and store it elsewhere so that it does not affect our air or water...and hence, will not affect the cycle of rain, water, condensation, air, etc.... our atmosphere.

As a cautionary note. I personally would just stay out of the water in terms of mining, nuclear submarines and other activity, or hydro energy. The ocean and the marine life, provide most of our system for generating air, and cover 70% of our planet....that's the floor of huge house. 70%...so any pollution in that or changes, will affect all of us, and especially the marine life and ecosystems. Hydro energy uses water to make energy. I would stay away from that...its like how the promise of ethanol was...short lived. Ethanol was made from corn...so it did not last. It affected our crop prices, and contributed to inflation.... we ate less corn. Air, ocean, and water are very different, but much bigger... we breathe it, bathe in it, drink it, use water in food, and even use water to boil, wash, etc. what we eat.... don't touch it. GET OUT.
