AI for Education is both a science problem, and an application problem. We need to solve for both for them to be transformative. One thing we've realised in the last year is that Large-Language models aren't by themselves apps for education. They're general purpose tools, which (with a bit of effort) we can use to help us with what we do. For some of us, this is asking GPT-4/Gemini/Claude for a quick lesson plan; for some of us this is writing a super long template prompt mimicking how we do things to co-pilot our day. We see the majority of people try it, admire it, then go back to their daily lives and pop back occassionally. For others, they see huge potential from turning the science into Apps - some people starting from scratch, adding wrappers to LLM's and creating new products - and others are building the technology into their existing EdTech products. Both sets of challenges need support, and collaborative knowledge sharing to fast track progress. This thinking is shaping how we work at AI-for-Education.org, where we try to both solve the science problems that underpin progress at scale; and at the same time "learn by doing" by supporting the people developing and testing the applications. As we continue to bridge the gap between AI science and practical educational applications, we invite other innovators and educators to join us. How are you incorporating AI into your educational tools and practices? Have you seen a great new app in your country? Share your experiences and insights below, or join us at AI-for-Education.org to collaborate on pioneering solutions or scientific advances that reshape how we learn and teach.

Championing Inclusive & Dynamic Learning | Bridging Educational Gaps | Preparing Learners for a Rapidly Evolving World
⚖️The Challenge The Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) prioritizes active student participation and critical thinking. However, navigating this new approach can be unfamiliar territory for both parents and educators. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a potential tool to support learning, but questions arise: ✔️Can AI effectively replace or supplement parental involvement? ✔️How can parents best leverage AI tools to support their child's CBC journey? ✔️What are the potential pitfalls and benefits of AI in the classroom? Together with Josephine Wanjiku we shall host Maina Gathinjaga WaGĩokõ , Annette Onyango and Silvanus Amenya as we discuss how parents and educators can connect, share experiences, and explore the evolving landscape of parental involvement in the CBC era by looking at: -The role of parents in fostering CBC competencies -How AI tools can enhance learning and empower parents. -Strategies for building a collaborative school-home partnership for effective teaching and learning. Date: 24-4-2024 Time:8pm Platform:X (formerly Twitter) Together, let's unlock the full potential of AI and CBC for a brighter future of education. “We obviously want the best for our students, but time and resources are always limited so we have to find a balance”- this is something we regularly hear from schools and, as educators, we can certainly relate. We developed Eliza Education as a solution for teaching outstanding PSHE and well-being to students, at a level that would previously have been impossible in most settings due to time constraints. Inputting a few details into Eliza’s AI Planner will produce a teaching plan for an entire year in just a few minutes, saving countless hours while fully covering the Government’s statutory outcome requirements. At the core of our platform is a comprehensive set of resources that have been created with flexibility in mind. Lessons are provided in a selection of durations to better facilitate real word teaching schedules. Our lessons are underpinned by three foundations of well-being: self-worth, happiness and resilience. Resources can be downloaded, edited, and printed or viewed online. With the proliferation of social media and AI, the importance of PSHE and wellbeing for students has never been greater. Eliza ensures that students are given the very best learning experience while saving teachers time. Visit our website to book a demonstration for your school today. #pshe #wellbeing #education #secondaryeducation #teachers #teaching #AI #EdTech #mentalhealth #socialmedia #elizaeducation

Everyone needs a copilot. Maybe not Microsoft copilot 😜 but a hand in using tech, AI and help with #critical #thinking. ‘#Edtech’ is a support tool. Great Post-apocalyptic education article.

Education and the use of technology. The EdTech which hasn’t worked and won’t work (not a new argument I have bored people with) demands new modes and relevant pedagogies. AI just amplifies that need. Let’s focus on how we enhance learning and teaching by better and augmented thinking and flip outdated models. Ethan Mollick’s article highlights this clearly for the age of AI and pleads for enhanced co-piloting. That does need a rethink and not a retrofit. #ai #genai #retrofit #rethink #learning #education #enhance #augment #flip #pedagogies #aertsalert

There is enormous demand from educators to learn how to use AI effectively in their classroom. Existing courses are usually either policy guidelines or low-level pedagogies related to avoiding student cheating that do not address deep AI Literacy. Center for Curriculum Redesign’s on-demand Teacher Training and Student Curriculum, “AI Literacy: Thinking with the Machines,” allows novice and expert teachers of all disciplines to master AI for their own professional use and teach it to their students. https://lnkd.in/etpVEBqV #AIforEducation #ArtificialIntelligence #ProfessionalDevelopment #Schoolleaders
