[FORUM FOR AGRICULTURAL INNOVATION AND EMPOWERNMENT FOR CHILDREN AND THE YOUTH [FAIECY] - BO, Southern Region of SIERRA LEONE] In my submissions to the seminar organized by the above named organization for Climate change effects and Climate Justice advocacy, I argued, whether the conceptual inception and the doctrinal etymology of ‘Climate Justice’ is sufficient to amount into an epistemology, as a claim under philosophy of Justice? Is a case study to ponder. However, the Geographical position of Sierra Leone on the West Coast of Africa, which falls within the 7th and the 10th parallels North of the Equator, similar to landsize of countries occupying unfavourable Geo-graphical location of the Earth hemisphere in different continent with landscapes more of mountainous, naturally, suffers extensively in adverse climate effects and Economic disadvantages. The concern raised is, should those challenges be an issue to cry foul due to vulnerability, in extent to warrant climate Justice advocacy? Shall be a whole new paradigm to defend in a new forum. From my perspective, I foresee, the effects of ‘climate changes’ as caused by ‘nature’ and ‘man-made’ actions; herein, the emphasis on ‘nature’ and it ‘causal agents’ is very abstract to easily quantify and qualitatively established, thus, consider the entire conceptual development to fall within geo-political action scope, while it advocacy is more of socioeconomic doctrine and policies, rather than legal philosophical thought, which demands most of it victims to think out of the box for mitigation and adaptation programs. Perhaps, what is critically needed is funding to supports brilliants minds developing new technologies and smart methods to circumvents the negative effects of the climate changes towards national advantages, as a Social Enterprise engineering. This is the pathway, Sierra Leone needs, and most importantly, as an invitation call to the Youths who are pregnant with fresh ideas to step out into the Sierra Leone Industry for such impacts as in new technology and climate smart agricultural programs for mitigation and adaptation of Climate effects. Which, I hold the believe that as far as these actionable programs are economic viable, funding will pursue them, just a matter of time. § [ On this very note, and under a spirited mission, brings to the attention… Ms. Halima Hashi, Africa Development Bank Group’s Country Manager-Sierra Leone, Mr. Sebastian Ashong-Katai Country Manager for Ecobank, Sierra Leone, and Mr. Mannuel Muller, the Ambassador of European Union in Sierra Leone replaced by Ambassador Jacek Jankowski, hope to act in ‘care-of’, upholding the conviction that my letters should be resting on your tables for a response to the Southern region.] E . IS THERE A DECLINE TO THE MEDIA BEAUTY IN SIERRA LEONE ? “ With the ever expanding presence of the ‘Social media’ as a space, has stimulated an exponential growth of Media mercenaries, mostly championed by their fake Journalists, who have advanced in gross unprofessionalism against the integrity of Journalism, thereby, bringing into disrepute the philosophical role and the demand of the Mass media for Socio-political construction, required of an evolving [State], which is imbued in standards of admissible facts and ethics in it delivery; thus, placed the credibility of what we consider news worthiness today for publication into jeopardy, and a questionable source to rely upon for Public information. The public value for the ‘Media’ is built on the trust of it provided information for consumption, such as the value of a ‘Currency’ is built on the trust of it Banks performance and reliability, just as the desire for a sound ‘Justice’ is built on the trust of the quality of Judges and the reliability of the Court system. In our part of the world, which has most of it structured system for Economic growth in fragile state, needed the Media the most to help charter it path through an unbiased National driven agenda, and a visionary focused discuss of the [State], in an era and circumstance where politicians easily fall short to political party-centric pursuits, the Media was supposed to be a reliable arm clothed fully in it power, as the fourth-arm of Government to focused and re-focused their objective narration towards National growth and citizens welfare development. It seems, the ever growing number of young Journalists within the media space of Sierra Leone expect their empowered throne as the fourth-arm of government to be delivered to them on a ‘silver platter’, forgetting that the language of Power understands an enforced and skilled approach to take in charge of the throne constitutionally ordained for, failure to acknowledge that call, makes that office subtle to political parroting, and media mercenary in the pocket of the Executive arm of government for Public manipulation. However, I do not undermine the few exceptional media Agencies and Journalists living up to the standards required of Media Publications and ethical Journalism to minimize the exacerbation of ‘information pollution’ at the Public space, and neither will I pretend not to see the striving efforts by the Executives in ‘Sierra Leone Association of Journalists’ revamping their members and structures to live up to the expectations demanded of Journalists, as Sierra Leone is on her development cross road. ‘Freedom of speech’ is never the same as freedom of irresponsible speech, as well as irresponsible publications, confusing advertising with News content is a lousy practice.” E. [ HUMANITARIAN EYE ] “ Often than not, we are quick to underestimate, and in most cases undermine the crucial role, which is played by the Orthodox Religious Institutions in our socioeconomic set-ups, as a post-colonial African settings, having the emphasis placed on the Christian Churches, with this article focus on Latter-day Saints commitment to humanitarian activities as a complement to the welfare delivery efficiency at the Local Government level. Those citizens below the ladder of the Middle Class Economic livelihood, are mostly in constant struggle to experience the relevance and the essentiality of the Central government, and it welfare packages as required and expected of [State] parenting, because the efforts and momentum to administer welfare policies at the Executive arm of government in most cases lacks a perfect translation of those package experience at the Community level due to the weakness of policy carriers and barriers, thus, create a gap of what the Central government perceive doing and achieving at the local community level to the realities of what the community experience and uphold as evidence, especially, in our part of the continent as Africa, and West Africa area, which is the center subject of article digest. The relevance of the above stated reasons, necessitate why good leaders in political arena never underestimate the vital role of synergies built around the local government Institutions towards discharging effective national welfare strategic programs at the local level, which in Africa the reliable partners at the Community level has always been religious orthodox Institutions to promote such national welfare missions as a compliment, because at the Community level, quality religious Institutions shares a common welfare interest with the [State] for the Citizens livelihood, as well as the Community sustainable development, thereby, independently able to relate the policies in a ‘motherly’ nature, and even more better than the [State] delivery system, but observed to be driven in the context of individual Church interests or religious Institutional agendas because they are allowed to be independently resource-based-financiers instead of a strategic [State] collaborations as [PPP] Private-Public-Partnership Social Enterprises. [ADVOCACY FOR SCRUTINY OF THE BENCH] “ Why the relevance of external advocating agencies as a ‘watch dog’ for ‘the Bench’? The Bench has been the custodian in the standards of Justice, which civilized societies demand. Yet, a highly conservative system decorated with numerous procedural rules and doctrines governing it services to protect the Judicial power constitutionally accorded, and insulate it ‘force of power’ from external authoritative attacks, which is intended to undermine or derail the Institutional capital reputation. For such crucial reasons, there is a prohibition of Judicial advisory opinions on general public issues as a rule complied by Presiding Judges of competent Courts of most Jurisdiction. It is for that same reasons legal intellectuals having understanding to the complexity, and the operating mechanism of the Bench, thus, have the capacity to carefully critique the intra-operating structural mechanism while in their midst, to serve as advocating ‘watch dog’ on-behalf of the open society, and protect the system from being hijacked unconsciously in a virtue of complacency by Colleagues granted the power of the ‘Scale balance’ and the ‘Sword of the law’ to serve the society in the spirit of the rule of law.” E.
