Our latest publication in Exploration Geophysics unveils the application of unsupervised machine learning in resolving the architecture of deep-crustal and near-surface geological structures of Euler deconvolution depth results from magnetic data. While this is a stepping stone to modern applications of unsupervised machine learning in geophysics that reduce bias in conventional interpretation techniques, we highlight ways to mitigate over-interpretation of results irrelevant to modern structural geology concepts. Explor is about to take on a #seismic #dataacquisition project in an area prone to #basalt cover. To help quickly describe the imaging challenges of basalt on the project, I turned to ChatGPT #artificialintelligence. It did quite a good job describing the general challenges - doing in 30 seconds what would have taken me 30 minutes. Then, for #fun, I prompted the #AI engine to 'turn it into a limerick.' Here's what it came up with: Basalt gives seismologists grief, Its layers are tricky and brief. With echoes that scatter, And signals that shatter, It hides what's beneath like a thief. Then, I prompted 'now, try a haiku': Basalt's echoes hide, Waves scatter, signals diverge, Deep secrets concealed.
