Examiners and adjusters, what are your thoughts on the accuracy and importance of the 'Cone of Uncertainty' in hurricane predictions? How do you see it impacting your work? #HurricanePreparedness #SAI #HurricaneBeryl #ConeofUncertainty #InsuranceClaims
One final note on Beryl: Many have commented that the original 'Cone of Uncertainty' issued by the National Hurricane Center was remarkably accurate, and that's true. The cone initially projected when Beryl was in the deep Southeast Caribbean held up quite well. This success is largely attributed to the wealth of data provided by Hurricane Hunters both today and over the years. As our scientific capabilities advance, the focus will increasingly shift towards forecasting rapid intensification events. It's worth noting that Beryl was initially forecasted to reach only Category 3 strength at most; however, ended up becoming a Category 5 Hurricane. #Beryl
