Brace yourselves, folks - we've got something special for you. 🌟 We've been on a journey with Make-A-Wish Foundation, shadowing a troop of brave, incredible Wish Kids. Their mission? To create a masterpiece, to paint their dreams on a canvas as vast as their spirits. As we filmed this documentary-style video, we didn't just capture colors on canvas. We captured resilience, strength, and the sheer joy these kids embody. We interviewed families, heard their stories, and experienced firsthand the profound impact Make-A-Wish has on each of them. But this film is more than a behind-the-scenes peek. It's a tribute to these young warriors, a token of appreciation for the donors, and a testament to the transformative power of a wish. The grand reveal? At a gala, where this artistic feat takes center stage and goes under the hammer. The goal? To transform more lives, one wish at a time. From the front entrance, to across the theatre, and around the corner to the high school, forty-eight flags adorn the walls of our school. Together, they are a sight to see, a representation of who we are and where we’re from. And while these flags are something you see every day, you may not know why they’re there or how they’re chosen. 1 – Every flag represents a Meadowridge family and where they’re from, including current and alumni families. 2—Flags are hung in alphabetical order, currently from Argentina to Vietnam. 3—Meadowridge hangs four flags that are not geographical, these include: the Pride Flag, the United Nations Flag, the Survivors’ Flag, and the IB Flag.

Starting in about 2012 I had one foot in the nonprofit world and another in the civic tech world. Working with nonprofits, I'd often wish data & tech were more accessible and easy to use. Working in civic tech, I'd often wish we stopped trying to reinvent the wheel and learn from the work of communities & nonprofits. For a year now (how time flies!) I've been working at 9b with both feet, LOL, helping nonprofits understand how data research can help achieve their goals & working to democratize this world of data science—taking these tools and methods that have been in the hands of institutions and putting them in the hands of community. What can we build together when we can all have a conversation around the same data?
