Technology makes a smarter work

As the Lead Intelligence Analyst for Convoy Group, I look at these developing stories across the country to try and surmise what can be learned from these incidents. Todays topic will be the Chaos at Six Flags over Georgia. Six Flags over Georgia Opening Day Chaos What Happened: On the parks opening day, March 2, 2024, just before 6pm a group of 500-600 individuals were "running through the park and fighting" The park was then cleared out by responding police officers, and then a police involved shooting took place near the park near South Service road which resulted in a 15-year old individual being wounded during a shootout with police. What can we learn: Typically amusement parks have the following security protocols in place - baggage check on entrance, metal detectors, cameras around the perimeter and entrance, and internal park security. At times parks may have police officers present So What: Security protocols need to have a multi-layered approach. The protocols in place are great for REACTING to any situations that occur, and may mitigate some bad actors. The layers required for effective security are technology (cameras, metal detectors etc.); physical (security presence throughout the park and entrance, a response force in place); protective intelligence. Lets focus on Protective Intelligence. It has been noted that this chaos in the park may have been coordinated on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram. If Six Flags were to have been monitoring these channels they may have been able to see it coming and then double or tripled up their security posture. This is one of the only ways in this day and age to remain PROACTIVE in your security. In the last four years we have seen Police Reform, and uptick in crime across the country, lack of respect for authority, and social media emboldening more criminal mischief and activity.
