Only 1.4% of more than $82 trillion of U.S.-based assets are managed by women and people of color. Daryn Dodson, founder of Illumen Capital, partnered with researchers at Stanford to test 180 asset allocators with Black- and White-led firms. They found that Black-led firms were systematically overlooked and underestimated the higher they performed. They found a way to make a case that aligns impact and economic returns. “Making the case” was intentional, and part of a larger framework that any company serious about impact can adopt.
