EAPC is proud to have partnered in creating the first fully staffed Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in the nation specifically built for Indian Country. Developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, this facility also integrates the Wildland Fire Program, allowing both departments to share resources and enhance operational efficiency. 🔥🚒 EAPC’s experience in public safety and their respect for the tribal nation’s vision were vital to this initiative. "EAPC ensured my voice was heard and advocated for our needs throughout the process," noted MHA’s EOC Director/K9 Handler Emily Sitting Bear. “We did finish the project on time and under budget, which rarely happens. I would consider this project a success.” Gloria Larsgaard, Burton Youngs, Mike Clark, AIA #EAPC #EmergencyOperationsCenter #IndianCountry #PublicSafety

Local Governments often face challenges in training staff to provide relief and response activities during emergency events. While the legislated responsibility is placed on Council to provide these services to community, little funding is provided to ensure staff are well prepared to do this. As a result of the added financial burden, most Councils (particularly rural municipalities) have little or no allocated budget for emergency management training. Having experienced these issues during my time in Local Government, it is a keen passion of mine to provide training programs and services that not only build the capacity of Council staff to support their communities through an emergency, but that are also accessible to all Local Governments. At ResilientCo we’ve been working behind the scenes to deliver a training calendar incorporating programs including Emergency Management, Emergency Relief and Recovery, Secondary Impact Assessments and Executive/Councillor Consequence and Crisis Management. These programs can be charged on a “per person” basis as a model that allows Councils to group together per region and fund training from other revenue streams. In a world where disasters are becoming the “norm” and no longer one-off events, it is imperative Local Governments are well prepared to support their communities well into the transition to recovery.
