This morning I presented my second session at the annual America's SBDC Conference: “The Ecosystem of Partnerships – A Strategic Approach to Successful Development.” In this presentation, I explained my strategic approach to building a ‘partner ecosystem.’ Partnerships are an essential element in the SBDC ecosystem as well as for associations, economic development entities, and other organizations. While partnerships can yield incredible results, they can also be a drain on time and resources if they are not properly thought out, orchestrated, and evaluated. The ultimate outcome of partnering successfully is obtaining the desired end result with reciprocal benefits for all involved. For SBDCs, partnerships are particularly important. To create widespread growth for small businesses and thus strengthen the economy, SBDC’s need a network-wide strategic mindset that seeks out and nurtures partnerships that build capacity and provide a strong platform for client services. My approach to building strategic partnerships applies far beyond the SBDC ecosystem as most organizations have a strong network of partners. If your organization could benefit from a more strategic approach to partnerships, I’d love to learn how I might help.
