Climate-Friendly Development: Adopting a cleaner, climate-friendly path of development compared to historical trends. 3. Emission Intensity Reduction: Reducing emissions intensity of GDP by 45% by 2030 from 2005 levels. 4. Renewable Energy: Achieving 50% of cumulative electric power installed capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030, with technology transfer and international finance support. 5. Carbon Sink Creation: Creating an additional carbon sink of 2.5 to 3 billion tonnes of CO2 equivalent through increased forest and tree cover by 2030. 6. Climate Adaptation: Enhancing investments in vulnerable sectors like agriculture, water resources, Himalayan and coastal regions, health, and disaster management to better adapt to climate change. 7. Here's a glimpse of everything that went down at 'Building India's Climate Story'-a convening that brought together diverse stakeholders to build a shared imagination of India’s climate story. Throughout the session, participants reflected on the sectoral gaps and challenges of climate communications in India, and the ways in which we can collaborate and engage with each other to address them holistically. Right from setting the tone of climate intersectionality and spotlighting best practices of climate messaging for the event, to breakout workshops that instilled a sense of collective action towards positive communication outcomes, we discussed and deliberated on the many pathways to building successful climate narratives for India. Amongst the key learnings that emerged, focus on collaboration, use of jargon-free language and human-centric communication, and solution-oriented approaches proved to be the key drivers that could build India's climate story. We thank each and every one who made it to the event and enriched it with their insights and contributions. Super happy to be a part of the Indian Youth Climate Network's Future Leaders Program! 🇮🇳❤️ Climate action is imperative today more than ever before due to the escalating threat of climate change. The consequences of inaction are already evident in extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and disrupted ecosystems. As a proud Indian, it is crucial to associate with climate action for several reasons. India is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, such as erratic monsoons and water scarcity, which threaten agricultural livelihoods and food security. Moreover, embracing climate action aligns with India's rich cultural heritage of environmental stewardship and sustainable living practices. By actively participating in climate mitigation and adaptation efforts, Indians can contribute to a healthier planet for future generations while also safeguarding their own well-being and prosperity. Through this program, I would look forward to continue the work I've been doing in the past few years in the realm, and contribute to the nation and its quest for climate resilience.
