In partnership with The Human Architecture and Planning Institute - theHAPI.org we had the pleasure of sharing the Flower Walk project at the 13th Annual Street Talks at the Old South Meeting House in Boston, hosted by LIVABLE STREETS TRANSPORTATION ALLIANCE OF BOSTON INC. Public transit spaces tend to be displeasing to the eye, overlooked, and under-stimulating for commuters. We see these spaces as an opportunity for change with the challenge of fostering joy while measuring the impact of creative transformations. With the use of iMotions technology, commonly used in the automotive industry, we were able to track how the Flower walk design impacts commuters through eye-tracking data. Using this technology at every stage of the process informed us in finalizing the best outcome. Before the Flower Walk intervention in City of Chelsea, MA the bus stop was overlooked, now it is non-consciously bringing a joyful focus to the commuter experience. Why should we settle when measuring the commuter experience? By designing for joy we are creating more exciting and inclusive community engagement. https://lnkd.in/eJ9hn6tY

The Data Vandals (Jennifer Ray and I) published an article today in Nightingale about our data kiosk project in Linz, Austria last June! This article outlines the whole process, from brainstorming, to data collection, design, construction, and a fun (but hectic) performance!! We need more ways of taking data to the streets to spark a dialogue with ordinary people. Read all about it: https://lnkd.in/eBmEcAA3

🌃 When the city dozes, PQS Tech's tech prowls. Introducing the game-changer in urban mapping - our night ops with the Viametris! 🌌 Picture this: While the city's heartbeat slows, our tech is out there, turning the quiet streets into a canvas of possibilities. Gone are the days when mapping and scanning a bustling city center was a daytime drama, dodging pedestrians and playing tag with traffic. No, we're the nocturnal navigators, the silent cartographers. With the Viametris in our arsenal, we've turned the night into our ally. Illuminating the unseen, capturing every crevice, every shadow, making the invisible, visible. This isn't just about having the tech to scan; it's about having the vision to transform. From historical alleyways to skyscraping silhouettes, we're not just mapping; we're reimagining urban landscapes. So, here's to PQS Tech, where we believe progress never sleeps. And neither does our commitment to innovation. Let's map a future that's ready for the dawn. #PQSTech #InnovationNeverSleeps #UrbanMapping #FutureIsNow #TechTakesTheNight

Transforming Spaces into Meaningful Places | Workspace Transformation Specialist @ Work Well | Owner @ Konstantina Marsenić Studio | Master of Architecture | Urban Reconstruction Specialist
The World Helth Day, yesterday, Well-being, today The concept of #wellbeing may seem...hm, somewhat trivial or trendy. But when we hear about #health, and particularly #illness, those are...alarms.💊 The only way to prevent illness is, quite simply, to Be Well. 💭Through their medium of organized #space,#architecture and #design either maintain our #health or contribute to our #illness - the illness of our bodies, minds, and hearts. 🧍🏼🧠🧍🏻♀️🫀 This applies to us both as individuals and as a community. #Wellbeing encompasses our overall state of health. 💭It's important to embrace well-being as a goal. If we don't, our goal becomes mere survival... a much darker perspective. What do you think?

My partner just got a beehive in the garden. It's amazing how much time we've both spent sitting by the hive watching the bees come and go, doing their thing, collecting pollen and generally bumbling around. Even though it looks like pure chaos, there's clearly an order to everything they're doing. That fact becomes even more obvious when you open the hive and see what they've created inside... Nature never ceases to amaze me. Anyway, it got me thinking about how people move around public spaces too, and how intentional design can create much better experiences for users. The reality is that placemakers, urban land regeneration developers and local authorities don't have a huge amount of data to work with when designing new spaces. Benchmarking how public spaces are used before urban regeneration takes place and then tracking movements after to know if its money well spent should be standard operating procedure. Fyma can do that using any existing network of CCTV cameras. Just plug them in and let our computer vision analytics do the rest. #computervision #fyma #proptech #urbanregeneration #commercialrealestate #localauthority

#JOBNYT #NEWJOB After nine absolutely fun, enriching, and amazing years at DDC – Danish Design Center, I've decided it's time to explore new pathways and take a leap into, yes, the unknown. What's next? I'm sure that I'll keep swimming in the ocean of societal transitions. I see different interesting contours of new opportunities arise 🌱 I want to contribute to our time's complicated challenges with my knowledge, curiosity, and insistence that we—together—can reach a prosperous future. Over the years, I've pinched myself from the many fantastic projects we've carried out - always professional and playful - and humbly stood next to talented and curious people in DDC and with partners. What a privilege.🧡 Experiencing those small pockets of change and hope made me aware of how we spend our time. ⏳ DDC – Danish Design Center is moving in a new direction, and I need to follow that deep eagerness to impact and throw love at - to me - the many important challenges 🏃♀️ I'm wildly proud of the many agendas we have impacted and the many people's actions and thoughts we have influenced to create a more caring, imaginative, and meaningful society. Some moments stand out: ⚡ Building immersive experiences with BOXING FUTURE HEALTH and setting the first stones for new ways of educating healthcare professionals ⚡Exploring the future of care in NEW DAYS with municipalities and regions to engage in deep conversations around ethics, care communities, and generations. It touched me, how it touched them. ⚡Inviting 150 international experts and innovators to experiment and develop scenarios for our future societies in a one-day crazy co-creation day in Copenhagen from the ambition to create a shared resource LIVING FUTURES for many more to utilize. ⚡Sensing the appetite and the curiosity of more than 250 actors and stakeholders longing for new ways of approaching our mission, Thriving Youth, and experiencing how our work with the open design resource VORBY and What If… sparked a deep motive force. Thanks to each and every one of you -- colleagues, and partners. 🙏 In the future reach me here in dm or sara.striegler@gmail.com 📩 📸 : From the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. One of my favourite art installations by the artists Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset I keep coming back to – this time it resonated in a new way 🏊♀️ .

Livable cities. As part of my volunteer role in Heidelberg's district advisory council, we are evaluating the typical solutions, like planting more trees, unsealing surfaces. Through this work, I stumbled on a citizen initiative (https://lnkd.in/ezD6nrDA) here in Heidelberg working on converting disadvantaged city spaces jointly with the people living there. Already well established is another initiative, the Metropolink street art festival, changing how we perceive the city, how we convert a somewhat depressing brutalist concrete surface into an inspiring, humane, attractive mural. Just now, I found this Bloomberg Asphalt Art initiative (https://lnkd.in/e3NMCfr2). What intrigues me here, is the aspect of safety. 'City streets with asphalt art became considerably safer for pedestrians after incorporating art into roadway redesigns.' Cities are livable when we combine multiple approaches and stakeholders. From more strategic city and traffic planning, green spaces and micro climates, to such initiatives that work with the construction materials and buildings that define our cities today.

🚶How do we experiment our personal space in urban environments? Discover "THE BODY AND THE CITY," Michail Rybakov's project for S+T+ARTS AIR. This work explores urban well-being by MEASURING SPACE through the HUMAN BODY. By using the concept of the kinesphere as a proxy for personal space, the project introduces KI/s (kinesphere infringement per second) to highlight how personal space is navigated in urban environments. Through interactive visualizations and perceptual maps of floating populations, Rybakov's project provides a fresh perspective on URBAN PLANNING and MOBILITY. By understanding the embodied, lived experience of a body in urban spaces, we can map real-world spaces to re-assess pedestrian traffic. Additionally, the project investigates how crowded environments influence movement decisions, adding a new variable to urban mobility considerations. The research aims to understand the attraction and aversion to CROWDED SPACES, with upcoming interviews exploring these psychological aspects. This also opens the door to new navigational tools for pedestrians seeking to avoid crowded areas. We can share a first work-in-progress, that that delves into the different qualities of collisions, raising questions about the trails we leave behind, acceptance of PERSONAL SPACE, feelings of belonging in society, and relationships with the community. These insights encourage a deeper reflection on how we navigate and experience our shared urban environments.
