In case you missed it: World Health Day takes place on April 7 each year, marking the anniversary of when the World Health Organization (WHO) was founded. The WHO defines global public health security as the activities required, both proactive and reactive, to minimize the danger and impact of acute public health events that endanger people’s health across geographical regions and international boundaries. Join us in working to enhance our nation’s health security to better respond to future public health emergencies! Together, we can fill a critical role in protecting Americans from health security threats by developing medical countermeasures that can be readily adapted and deployed in public health emergencies. Today, the White House released the US Global Health Security Strategy. PATH applauds this whole-of-government strategy and its commitments to multisectoral cooperation, country-led processes, and a #OneHealth approach to epidemic preparedness. Thank you National Association for Home Care & Hospice for sharing this. Bad actors are making it hard for good actors to provide needed care. Hospice and Home Health are linked together. Many have both hospice and home health attached. Bad data in brings bad policy out. The program integrity measures, while well intentioned, will make it harder (and more expensive) for the good players to operate while the bad actors continue. 89 hospice provider numbers in one building and it wasn't caught? HOW????? Program integrity then brings ADRs, UPICs, and other methods out, which bog down the providers. They then hire SMRCs on take backs only to have the denials and take backs reversed, but the black mark stays with the agencies. Accountability goes both ways. Accountability across MACs and SMRCs would help agencies feel a lot better about "Program Integrity."
Thank you, Beth Van Duyne (TX-24) and Michelle Steel (CA-45) for your leadership on #hospice program integrity during the Ways and Means Committee this week with the Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra! NAHC appreciates your partnership in addressing bad actors while supporting the vast majority of high-quality hospices that provide exceptional care to patients and families!

This attack should serve as an awakening regarding the interconnectedness and complexity that exists in the US healthcare system, according to Chief Security Officer Errol Weiss, Health-ISAC. “We as a sector, we as a society here in the US, need to do a better job of identifying these critical interdependencies,” he tells InformationWeek. https://lnkd.in/eg647-yq #criticalinfrastructure #healthit #healthcareleaders #hospitals #pharmacueticals #medicaldevices

As I’m transitioning out of my role as Director of Yuma County Economic Development, I have been reflecting on some of the challenges facing our region. One of those being our healthcare system. Across the eastern plains, only 4-5 hospitals provide obstetric care, leaving many families to travel up to 100 miles just to deliver their babies. This isn't just about convenience; it's about access to essential care. If we don't start talking more about protecting rural healthcare, some hospitals could cut more services or even close their doors. Our policymakers should focus on long-term healthcare solutions instead of cuts that are hindering our rural hospitals. Patients don’t take our hospitals and health systems for granted. Our policymakers shouldn’t either. I have come across an organization that is turning up the volume on this conversation, and I want to applaud Coalition to Strengthen America's Healthcare for their efforts. https://lnkd.in/gPzmwjpi It’s time we all start having this conversation.
