What do Michael Jordan 🏀 and an 80s goth rock band 🎸 have in common? The ability to build a winning team, and being able to adapt. A winning team is greater than the sum of its parts. It didn’t hurt that MJ had the greatest rebounder of all time, but teams with equal or greater talent have struggled to win championships. The Cult is a goth rock band 🎸 the rose to prominence in the 80s and are still touring today. For 4 decades, they’ve been bringing fans out to rock. The Police is one of the best selling bands of the 80’s, and was stacked with some of the greatest musicians of our time, but their inability to work together broke the band up prematurely. Know your team, and know how to get the most out of them. 👬👭🧑🤝🧑👫🙌🏿🙌 Adapting is key. If you don’t adapt, you won’t succeed. To beat the Bad Boys Pistons 💀🏀⛹🏾♂️, MJ and the Bulls had to adapt. I love 311, but they definitely struggled to adapt their music to wide appeal over the years. They maintained their core audience with some expansion, but their new albums struggled to resonate with audiences. If you want to build long-term success, build a winning team and be willing to adapt. This takes more than hiring the right people. It takes good data to act on, and a digital infrastructure to facilitate experimentation and innovation.

If anyone is interested , please sign this petition to urge the Birmingham City Council to reverse the savage cuts to funding to the Arts in Birmingham. Some of Birmingham's best loved arts and cultural attractions face cuts to their grant funding from the city council. There will be a cut to ALL funding for culture projects and local arts development, including the support for 10 local arts forums. City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra B'ham REP Theatre B'ham Royal Ballet IKON Gallery B'ham Opera Company FABRIC Sampad Ex Cathedra & Legacy Centre of Excellence B:Music Birmingham International Dance Festival will lose its £350,000 funding Funding to attract tourism will also be cut by £25,000. Many of my peers and friends work for the above list. Utterly devastated 💔 According to Arts Council England, arts and culture contribute more than £10.8 billion a year to the UK economy (source: Arts Council England). In addition, for every £1 invested in arts and culture, an additional £1.06 is generated in the economy (source: Centre for Economics Business Research). This clearly shows that investing in arts organisations is not just about preserving culture; it's also economically beneficial https://lnkd.in/eUcdtAY5

New Post: Noah Kahan’s ‘Stick Season’ Set For Seventh Week Atop U.K. Chart - https://lnkd.in/dsiMR3nY - Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” (via Republic Records) is sticking around in the U.K., where it’s predicted to notch a seventh consecutive week at No. 1. Based on midweek sales and streaming data published by the Official Charts Company, “Stick Season” is the clear favorite, accumulating double the tally of its nearest competitor. That distant rival is Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” (Atlantic) which is primed for a new peak position, lifting 3-2 on the Official Chart Update. There’s a chance Kahan could snag his first chart double. His Stick Season LP rises to No. 2 on the midweek albums tally — an all-time high — with Declan McKenna and his third album What Happened To The Beach? (via Columbia) the only objects currently blocking his path. Meanwhile, Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s 2001 hit “Murder on the Dancefloor” (Polydor) continues to feel the Saltburn bump, dipping 2-3 on the singles chart blast. Meanwhile, Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” (Warner Records) is poised to do something it has never done before; it’s set to gain 8-4 for a new peak position. The 21-year-old Washington native currently leads the Billboard Global 200 chart with his rock ballad. Ella Henderson and Rudimental’s “Alibi” (Atlantic) scaled a new peak last Friday, rising 24-16 in its fourth week. The only way is apparently up for “Alibi,” which is poised for a No. 12 spot on the national chart. “Alibi” samples the late Coolio’s hit “Gangsta’s Paradise” (which in turn sampled Stevie Wonder 1976 single “Pastime Paradise”), a 1995 hit which logged two weeks at No. 1 and finished the year as the U.K.’s second biggest-selling single. Finally, Norwegian producer Kygo and U.S. singer Ava Max are expected to crack the U.K. top 20 for the first time with “Whatever” (Columbia/Kygo), improving 28-19 on the chart blast. The EDM tune samples “Whenever, Wherever,” the lead single from Shakira’s debut English-language studio album, Laundry Service, from 2001. All will be revealed when the Official U.K. Singles Chart is published late Friday, Feb. 16. - #news #business #world -------------------------------------------------- Download: Stupid Simple CMS - https://lnkd.in/g4y9XFgR -------------------------------------------------- or download at SourceForge - https://lnkd.in/gNqB7dnp

Standing on the Grammy stage, becoming the first person to win Album of the Year four times, Taylor Swift used her speech as a love letter to unheroic work saying, “I would love to tell you that this is the best moment of my life, but I feel this happy when I finish a song, or when I crack the code to a bridge that I love, or when I’m shot listing a music video, or when I’m rehearsing with my dancers, or my band or getting ready to go to Tokyo to play a show. For me the award is the work. All I want to do is keep being able to do this.” The award is the work. What a testament to everything it takes to succeed. Eye on the everyday, not as a grind, but in joyful embrace of doing. This is the stuff I talk about as the unheroic work. Don’t get hijacked by the hype of the killer campaign or distraction of a shiny new object. Stay in the unheroic work of figuring out your ‘song’ and getting the moves right with your team. That’s the stuff that mints value stored in your brand. If you need convincing, consider Taylor Swift’s concerts will generate her over 1 billion towards she can use for more albums, something new or causes she cares about. And all those things grow through use and add more to the brand. That’s how you put the value stored in your brand to work.

Kudos to Brittney Oliver for creating this comprehensive listing of Black-owned businesses in #Nashville. Our city has a lot to offer across many categories, and several of my favorites are listed here. #BlackBusinessMonth "This guide to Black Nashville is far from comprehensive. However, the businesses, historical sites, and—most importantly—people showcased below should give you a glimpse into Nashville's Black culture, which blends traditional old Nashville with the new. Here's what you need to know to plan your next trip to Music City."

Every event and every occasion is an opportunity to meet up with @Abigail Medenciy from Supio. Some of the fun we had in Nashville during the @American Asociation for Justice was at the Country Music Hall of Fame. Even Dolly was there! For those who have never had the opportunity to visit Nashville, you need to visit the Parthenon. Originally built in 1897 and restored in 1920, it designated Nashville as the "Athens of the South." Conventions may seem like fun, but if you want to come home successful you have to network. That means work. How? I talk to people I don't know about the venue we're in. I talk about something I'm passionate about! I talk about music when I'm in a music hall; I talk about restaurants or clubs we've been to. If you're new to client relationships, don't start with trying to sell them something. Think about how you will be remembered. Build a relationship and make it memorable. If you missed me at AAJ and want to discuss how your firm needs to update its software, set up a call, and let's determine your needs. https://lnkd.in/gC6zPWBG #onepercentbetter #relationships #networking #legaltech #legalsoftware #makeadifference #knowyourstuff

Last night's Grammy triumph for Killer Mike at the age of 48 serves as a profound testament to the enduring nature of artistic brilliance. For those less familiar with his work, Killer Mike emerged from the influential legacy of OutKast, particularly the creative minds of Andre 3000 and Big Boi. Their music, a cultural cornerstone, resonates with many, and Killer Mike's success stands as a living testament to the transformative power of musical heritage. In a world often fixated on youth-centric narratives, Killer Mike's journey is a powerful reminder that the pursuit of dreams transcends age. It's easy to succumb to the notion that there's an expiration date on aspirations, particularly in industries driven by trends. However, the reality is quite the opposite. True success often unfolds on its unique timeline, shaped by dedication, authenticity, and an unwavering commitment to one's craft. As we navigate the passages of life, it's crucial to recognize that age is not a barrier but a mosaic of experiences, lessons, and opportunities. Embracing personal growth and creative evolution allows us to tap into reservoirs of wisdom and resilience that become invaluable assets on our journey. Killer Mike's late-career Grammy wins are a living proof that our trajectories can flourish and take unexpected turns, defying societal norms. So, whether you're an aspiring artist, entrepreneur, or pursuing any dream, remember that your journey is uniquely yours. Your potential knows no age limit, and each step forward is a testament to your individuality. Stay true to yourself, draw inspiration from your experiences, and recognize that it's never too late to chase your dreams. In a world constantly changing, your authenticity is the constant that propels you forward. #AgelessDreams #LegacyInTheMaking

The tears from the local industry players and creatives do reek of a layered brand elitism. It’s fashionable to cry for the Grammys. Even though we’re technically guests, invited to an American spectacle to diversify their ranks. We’re still fringe players at the Recording Academy, with negligible numbers incapable of swinging the odds in our favour. We still have a few voting cycles to cry some more. And that privilege of crying depends on Afrobeats maintaining its hold on pop culture. We are still building over there, and todays lesson teaches us that growth isn’t linear. Afrobeats, please hold this one. Where was this level of support for the Headies, Nigeria’s homegrown, legacy award show with 16 years of honouring the local scene? Nominees are often absent and late. The chatter about the show borders on derisory. We don’t pack our halls in honour of the event, neither are we interested in elevating it. But we can cry for the Grammy. Fashionable tears for what could have been. What we need is to return home. Tails between our legs as the realisation that all we got is us. And if we don’t take care of home, build, support and elevate it locally, we at risk of delegating our pride to foreigners. Afrobeats have intrinsic value. But the current business model has funneled the entire ecosystem into exportation. And while we can boast of improved finances and investment pathways, we’re now forced to negotiate our cultural impact on parameters that weren’t created for us, in spaces where our existence is still a moot point. Why are we hurt? Because we are playing a game that wasn’t created for us. And it sucks to lose. Perhaps, this spurs us as a creative and business class. To look inward and see our worth within us. That our local industry and all its institutions are enough, and exploration is just what it is; exploration. Perhaps across the continent, we can resurrect our reward systems, intentionally imbuing cultural power and credibility in local award shows and bodies that seek to celebrate us. And to see those platforms worthy of our artistry and ego. The Grammys snubbed Nigeria this year. And rather than mope around and petulantly kick some dust, let’s fight back by getting stronger at home. It’s the only way out.

What Can We Learn From Taylor Swift's Record-Breaking Grammy? As most of us heard, Taylor Swift broke the record as the first artist to win 4 Grammys for Album of the Year, quite an accomplishment, especially at age 34! In her acceptance speech, she said she’d love to say that this was the best moment in her life, but she feels this happy when she finishes a song, cracks the code on a bridge (a transition that builds tension in a song) she loves, or when she’s rehearsing with her dancers or band. To Taylor, the award is the work. Fame and glory aside, I was struck by Taylor’s passion for her work, her appreciation for the many moments of joy in her life, and her ability to be aware and present in everyday life. So I asked myself, where in my life is the award the work itself? I landed on my resilience workshops – A Shot of Resilience, An Extra Dose of Resilience, and Always Resilient. I love when a group member tries a new strategy, looks at a challenge in a different way, is energized by a new insight, or gets “unstuck.” Or, when other group members share how they managed a similar challenge, what worked for them, and magically, it all comes together and makes a huge difference. Truth be told, it's the cherry on top and feels great when a group member sends me a note of thanks or shares how they love being part of our “tribe.” But the bottom line is whether I helped them take a step forward, that’s what it’s all about for me. Where in your life is the reward the work? Comment below - I’d love to hear from you! I may not have a Grammy for you, but what you’ve got is even better! Taylor would agree. “The reward for work well-done is the opportunity to do more.” - Jonas Salk https://lnkd.in/gMvE793p #CoachingForResilience #Resilience #Reward #HardWork #Motivation
