It’s outrageous that Steve Hayes, the very person who falsely accused me of harassment (only for all charges to be dropped), is now being paraded as a thought leader at the National Housing Federation, Comms and Influencing in Housing Conference. This is the same individual who labels critics as “troublemakers” and has been part of an organisation that aggressively silenced legitimate concerns—including pressuring the Oxford Mail for daring to draw parallels to Grenfell! The same man whose actions ended up with GreenSquareAccord being criticised in a House of Commons debate! And let’s not forget the glaring conflict of interest: GreenSquareAccord’s CEO conveniently sits on the NHF board. How are residents supposed to trust an organisation that elevates those with such questionable track records? It’s easy to “build lasting relationships” when you’re talking about cozy boardroom alliances—but where is that energy when it comes to residents desperately seeking accountability? This kind of back-slapping self-promotion is a perfect example of what’s wrong in the housing sector. Instead of granting platforms to individuals like Hayes, who have actively stifled criticism and accountability, the NHF should focus on empowering the voices of those who have been marginalised by these very organisations.
