East Midlands Combined County Authority’s Post

Great news for a Monday! The Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward is being given nearly £200 million to spend on roads and local transport across the region for the next year. It will be used for things like: ✅ Improving roads ✅ Creating better transport links ✅ Make it cheaper and easier to travel in the region ✅ Plus, improving reliability of local buses. EMCCA will now work with local councils to see how this money can be spent to improve transport and travel across the East Midlands. 🎉 You can read more here: https://zurl.co/OVSFj Amy Harhoff Derby City Council Nottingham City Council Derbyshire County Council Nottinghamshire County Council

If you want to know why devolution and a mayor matter, listen to this. More money, more say on how it’s spent and, therefore, better outcomes for local people. And this when East Midlands Combined County Authority is only 9 months in.

This is great news, but can East Midlands Combined County Authority consider accessibility and safety at the heart of improving local transport and roads - including safe walking, pushing and wheeling.
