We have found an interesting way to measure frost mass indirectly, utilizing the principle behind the working of touch-screens. This method can be used as a tool to study frost and also be integrated into HVAC systems to help increase the efficiency of operation! Efficient defrosting of energy systems requires accurate real-time monitoring of frost density and thickness as both affect the thermal resistance of the frost layer.
