KW North America LLC, an international auto parts manufacturer, plans to lay off 140 employees at its Pell City, Alabama, facility. The layoffs are scheduled to begin on February 7, 2025, and will continue over the following months impacting employees in production and maintenance roles.

Today I reached a 20 year milestone with the VIPAR Heavy Duty family of companies and will likely toast tonight with my family and reflect on the past several years. It started with answering a Craig’s list ad in 2005 for a rebate admin position. I was re-entering the workplace, as I wanted to be present and support our family in raising our three boys, while re-engaging professionally. 20 things I’m grateful for during my working years at VIPAR Heavy Duty (not in order): 1. The opportunity I was given by my first boss who hired me on 1/25/2005 and supported my career path. Thank you. 2. My second (and current boss) who has supported our team through several years of company growth. Thank you. 3. My team who works to support our family of companies’ journey. Thank you. 4. The growth of the VIPAR Heavy Duty network for our stockholders. 5. The acquisition of Power Heavy Duty. 6. Being a part of Nexus North America and playing a role in supporting our global footprint for our family of companies. 7. Helping our distributors with their business legacies every day and hearing their stories. 8. Our entire team at our family of companies. 9. Colleagues I still see at industry events and socially who I worked closely with in my role as rebate admin support. Relationships that lasted. 10. Our entrepreneurial spirit. 11. Working with Northwood University and engaging with the next generation. The industry has a bright future. 12. Our companies’ focus on family and work-life balance. 13. Being selected to serve on our Leadership team. 14. Completing my M.B.A. in 2015 and adding value through a continued learning company mindset. 15. Our IMPACT on the heavy-duty aftermarket. 16. Embracing change. 17. Supporting distributors with Rebate Management. 18. New relationships being built to support the future of our industry. 19. Company legacies we have been a part of. 20. Pretty "cute" video to announce Blackstone's acquisition of Jersey Mike's. I assume there was more to the due diligence process beyond lunch and crunch (numbers) and that there is a well-thought-out strategy that has been developed or conceptualized to create value for the business. Otherwise, that is a very expensive ($8bn) sandwich. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the acquisition and how Blackstone can unlock value for this popular fast-food chain.
