The "Digitalisation of International Trade in Morocco" conference was held on June 25, organised by TFP with ICC Morocco, and supported by T3i Partner Network and moderated by André Casterman of ITFA. Nine countries, including Bahrain, Singapore, the UK, and France, have adopted the 2017 Model Law on Electronic Transferrable Records (MLETR), moving away from traditional paper-based trading methods. TFP and Legal Transition Programme aim to promote digital trade in Morocco through trade finance and legal channels, potentially making it the first African country to legally recognize electronic trade documents. Shona Tatchell, TFP's director, presented opening remarks, while OCE’s Zsoka Koczan highlighted Morocco's potential benefits from digital trade due to its skilled workforce and young population. The event featured various speakers, including Mr. said Maghraoui Hassani from the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Morocco and Rebecca Harding from T3i Partner Network, emphasizing the economic benefits of digital trade for Morocco. The conference underscored Morocco's readiness for digital trade reforms, supported by its existing laws on electronic signatures. The initiative received strong support, and efforts will continue with TFP partner banks and legal reforms led by LTP, which are set to begin in September! #EBRD #TFP
