An Energy Efficiency Fund has been established in the country. Under the decree, the 'Regulation on the formation and use of funds of the Energy Efficiency Fund' was approved. 💡 By providing a dedicated platform for financing energy-efficient and renewable projects, the fund aims to enhance overall energy efficiency across various sectors. Additionally, the Energy Efficiency Fund is expected to stimulate innovation and technological advancements in the realm of sustainable energy. This not only supports environmental conservation but also positions Azerbaijan as a proactive player in the global drive towards cleaner and greener practices. ➡️ Excellent news for Kosovo! 🌍 A major step towards the green transition as plans are underway for one of the largest solar photovoltaic plants near Pristina, with a capacity of up to 100 MW. This project aims to reduce the country's reliance on coal-fired power plants, enhancing energy security and fostering economic growth. ➡️ With support from Team Europe, including a €32 million European Commission grant, channelled through the WBIF - Western Balkans Investment Framework, the project will make significant strides in sustainable energy production. ➡️ The grant will be combined with loans from the European Investment Bank (EIB) (€33 million) and KfW Development Bank (€29 million). The Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association - EMEA, represented by its Founder and President, Prof. Rym Ayadi, and the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), represented by its Executive Director, Dr. Jauad El Kharraz, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the purpose of enhancing collaboration on the Euro-Mediterranean and African ecosystems, enhance expert knowledge in the regions and support transparent, inclusive social and economic development with a particular emphasis on expertise, sharing of knowledge, co-funding and dissemination to support a transformation towards a transparent, sustainable transition in the #Mediterranean and #Africa. https://lnkd.in/dXMxiFKy

#Albania, along with the five other Western Balkan countries, has committed to working towards the 2050 goal of achieving a carbon-neutral continent together with the European Union. This commitment involves the implementation of a stringent climate policy and comprehensive reforms in the energy sector. Under the project titled 'Balkans Region: Empowering Business as a Cross-Border Reform Champion, Phase II,' CIPE Europe & Eurasia is partnering with the DIHA Deutsche Industrie- und Handelsvereinigung in Albanien (German Association of Industry and Trade in Albania) to establish a working group focused on the renewable energy sector in Albania. The primary objective of this working group is to facilitate connections among stakeholders and drive national-level reforms within the sector. In 2023, DIHA organized a series of roundtable discussions, bringing together representatives from the private sector, subject matter experts, and public officials from the energy sector. The purpose of these discussions was to assess the current state of affairs and form a working group tasked with evaluating potential reforms within the energy sector. These roundtables also sought to engage key players within the renewable energy sector and promote cross-border collaboration. The most recent event, held in early 2024, expanded its scope by inviting public and private representatives from neighboring regions, including Kosovo and North Macedonia. These participants shared insights into the practices and challenges faced by their respective countries in striving for sustainable energy production from renewable sources. Throughout this process, CIPE has worked closely with DIHA, offering guidance and technical assistance. We are dedicated to furthering this collaboration in the future, with the mutual aim of advancing the renewable energy sector and supporting our partners in their pursuit of sustainable renewable energy development in the region. #SustainableDevelopment #RegionalCooperation

📢 New 🇪🇺 Funds for Malta! European Commission disburses €13.9 million 💶 #REPowerEU pre-financing payments to 🇲🇹 relating to the REPowerEU funds under the Recovery and Resilience Facility. These payments will help kick-start the implementation of the crucial investment and reform measures outlined in the REPowerEU chapter. This will accelerate the delivery on the REPowerEU Plan’s objectives to save energy, produce clean energy and diversify energy supplies, with a view to make Europe independent from Russian fossil fuels well before 2030. Malta’s plan includes one reform and one investment to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, in line with one of the REPowerEU Plan's objectives. It was an honor to participate in the 2nd #MEFED organized by the Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, where we discussed how to accelerate energy interconnections between the EU and MENA regions. During my panel, alongside esteemed colleagues, we evaluated the current progress of cross-border electricity infrastructure projects, identified key challenges, and outlined the necessary actions to speed up the development of EU-MENA electricity interconnectivity

Minister of Power @MinOfPowerNG, Adebayo Adelabu @BayoAdelabu, calls for enabling legislation to assure investors of the Federal Government's commitment to power sector reforms. During a meeting with Spanish Ambassador Juan Ignacio Sell, Adelabu underscored the need for appropriate policies and market-driven operations to address liquidity and governance issues. He highlighted Spain's role in renewable energy and encouraged further Spanish investment in Nigeria's power sector. Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan Sign Preparation Agreement for Kambarata HPP-1! Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan have signed a landmark agreement to prepare for the construction and operation of the Kambarata HPP-1. The agreement was formalized during the International Energy Investment Forum in Vienna, with support from the World Bank. Key highlights: ✔️ Creation of a Coordination Donor Committee, including the World Bank, ADB, EBRD, and others. ✔️ Focus on energy sector reforms and investment opportunities. ✔️ Development of renewable energy and efficient use of water resources.
