Believe it or not, we still have companies that don’t understand, or have never been made aware of the huge benefits an apprentice scheme can bring to their company and their bottom line. The Department for the Economy NI has published statistical reports on ApprenticeshipsNI and Higher Level Apprenticeships in Further Education in Northern Ireland, academic year 2023/24. ApprenticeshipsNI This statistical report presents a range of analysis on ApprenticeshipsNI delivered in FE colleges and other training providers covering provision across academic years 2019/20 to 2023/24. The analysis covers the characteristics of those participants starting ApprenticeshipsNI, the number of leavers and the number of leavers who obtained a Full Framework and the number of participants on course at the end of October 2024. https://lnkd.in/eve5-jCw

Last month we released a new report in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University, “Widening Participation and Degree Apprenticeships”. The research looks at the extent to which degree apprenticeships are part of existing university outreach plans and tries to identify the barriers that might exist for including Degree Apprenticeships in Widening Participation activities. We commissioned the work because we wanted to understand whether Degree Apprenticeships are really expanding opportunities for higher level study to those from disadvantaged and underrepresented groups. https://lnkd.in/eTYgy4gW

As we wrap up #NAW2024, we’re proud to celebrate the growth of the apprenticeship movement in Indiana. In a recent report from Apprenticeships for America on how states are driving the expansion of apprenticeships, Indiana was listed as a top five state for proportion of apprentices in the labor force in 2024. We’re excited to continue progressing the apprenticeship movement and connecting workers with education and training opportunities that prepare them for in-demand careers. https://lnkd.in/ejBQCK5A

The importance of accessible education in shaping future accountants cannot be overstated. Let's hope that the Level 7 Apprenticeship Funding isn't removed. The scheme has funded up to 100% of the cost of the Apprenticeship, allowing thousands of young people to achieve their dreams of becoming fully qualified accountants under the ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, or CTA professional bodies. If this is removed, it could once again restrict careers in accountancy to those who can afford to attend university.
