The automotive industry is at a pivotal moment. It's forward-thinking, innovative — yet still very manual and often reacting to legislation rather than preparing for it. Currently, the automotive sector accounts for a massive 18% of global GHG emissions. Scope 2 emissions alone are around 500 million metric tons of CO2 annually. The industry consumes 12% of the world’s electricity, but only 30% comes from renewable sources. Imagine the impact if that number were higher! Next step, Scope 3. Nearly impossible to compensate, yet holding so much potential for tangible impact. In my calls with major automotive brands, I've seen a genuine push towards reducing emissions.
