Reflecting on the fundamental question: Why do we as a Social Benefit Corporation exist? 🌍 Strategic clarity becomes meaningful when rooted in a clear purpose. A major venture capital firm deems it the most critical question for any company: "Summarize your company’s purpose on the back of a business card." This profound question impacts everything from funding to impact, creating a stronger foundation for our journey. 💪 It's a concern when the essence of an organization shifts from its original passionate vision to simply meeting the operating budget or securing the next grant. Without a why, high-level dialogue lacks a framework and prevents communities of shared purpose. Let's embrace and answer the question that matters. Key questions for clarity: 1️⃣ Why do we exist? (on the back of a napkin) 2️⃣ What is our cause? (keep it simple) 3️⃣ What would we do with $1OM? Look beyond money; focus on a broader impact. 4️⃣ What are we best in the world at? (inspired by Jim Collins) This profound question impacts funding, morale, board meetings, and real impact. Funders want to know the why, not just the what. Aligning with a cause aids in identifying funding sources. Connecting regularly to our purpose could reduce turnover. People join nonprofits with a sense of purpose; let's help them remember it. Without knowing our destination, we'll wander aimlessly. Let's keep these key questions in mind to create a purpose-driven, clear, and impactful organization. #PurposeDriven #OrganizationalClarity #ImpactMatters

Do you think about power? About the way it affects your work, your relationships, your behaviors, your story - and maybe even the way you look at money? Power is a big theme in the nonprofit + impact spaces. Sometimes because we don’t have it or because it’s withheld from us. But also how it helps us scale, gather, fund, include, share, and empower us. This is a topic I’m excited to explore more deeply and vulnerably during We Are For Good’s virtual summit - ImpactUp - on July 11, and I’d love to invite you into the convo. Join me at ImpactUp with thousands of our fellow disruptive, evolution-for-good friends as we tackle the topic from various angles and talk about how to activate solutions for reclaiming our power. The link is below and the event is free! Register here 👉 https://bit.ly/3Rgjocn We’ll be chatting about: ✅ Reclaiming our personal power + our organization’s power + our sector’s power ✅ Shifting power in the way we work (cheers for vibrant cultures! 🙌) ✅ Shifting power dynamics in funder/grantee/equity/internal relationships ✅ Shifting power in communication + ownership of our story ✅ Shifting power in work/life balance ✅ Shifting power in how we find joy in our work ✅ Releasing beliefs that no longer serve us So here’s the question: How has power affected you in your work? Drop comments below👇because community conversation is the basis of sharing collective power. And because your voice matters. #ImpactUprising #ImpactReform #ImpactEvolution #KindnessRevolution
