March Madness rolls on in today’s #BLS numbers, with 303,000 new jobs added and unemployment steady at 3.8%. We’re seeing continued strength in the labor market, though there is still rebalancing from post-pandemic highs as employers take a more measured approach to hiring – prioritizing permanent hires for in-demand roles. Demand for tech and AI skills is strong and the impact of Gen AI on jobs is a hot topic. I talked to Yahoo Finance - Seana Smith & Madison Mills this morning to break down the numbers and consider how we can make sure tech advancements create job opportunities for all. There’s optimism for the future in sectors like manufacturing with PMI improvements though we aren't seeing that pull through into the jobs report just yet.
