Wellington Water people are out there days, nights, and weekends making sure your drinking water is safe and healthy, your wastewater disappears safely, and stormwater drains away. Mahi Monday shines a light on some of those people. Meet Navya, one of our amazing team members in the Digital Products and Services team! ❓ What do you do as a Data Quality Administrator? I look at data collected from water meters across Wellington, including water treatment plants, pump stations, and wells. There’s a lot of quality assurance involved, making sure that unusual data is investigated and validated properly. All this work ultimately helps find leaks and potential pipe bursts. ❓ What’s your favourite part about working at Wellington Water? I love that I get to diversify my skill set and learn every day. There are so many professional development opportunities, and I’m grateful for the exposure I get to various projects as well. The working environment is also a big plus – everyone I’ve worked with is super friendly and so passionate about their mahi. ❓ What are you working on at the moment? Aside from the day-to-day data validation, I am currently working on building cool dashboards! These dashboards incorporate data on water demand and map coordinates which will help track water usage, flows and trends. Outside of work, I’m working on being more active. I’ve recently taken up tennis which has been so much fun. I’ve found it a great way to recharge after work! ❓ What’s the most challenging part of your job? I stumble on something new every day! Being in this role made me realise that there’s still so much more I don’t know about the data world. While it’s a challenge, I also see this as an opportunity to think outside the box and continue working on making the processes more seamless.
