It's #InternationalMuseumDay! The theme this year is 'Museums for Education and Research', and what better way to mark the occasion than re-living last year's ESRC: Economic and Social Research Council Festival of Social Sciences? Many of the Oxford events were hosted at The Pitt Rivers Museum where researchers from across the social sciences shared their research in an amazing programme of family-friendly interactive events, including: 🔵 Discovering historical smells 🔵 Exploring how wellbeing can be enhanced as we age 🔵 Creating mini 'zines' 🔵 Learning nursery rhymes in new languages Across two days, we registered over 1400 interactions between visitors and our researchers!     We want researchers to be able to use the MOST recent UK census data in new and exciting ways. The data collected in 2021 and 2022 has great potential for research as its population coverage across the UK is very high and it includes information from topics like work, health, and identity. That’s why we're funding 8 projects that will cover all parts of the UK and enable researchers to make innovative use of the latest data. 🙌 What does that mean for you? 🤔 Well, these investments will: ✅Help researchers access and use census data through training and user support ✅Create new “research ready” datasets for researchers to use  ✅Provide new synthetic and “fake” data resources, which make it easier to develop research projects  ✅Develop methodological insights for innovative use of census data Overall, it means there will be more data resources and it will be easier than ever to use them! Census data is collected by the UK’s three statistical agencies – NISRA, NRS and ONS. These agencies also provide data for research and currently support researchers in using it.
