📣 Future Data Services: Recommendations Workshop 4th July 2024 📣 Join us on 4th July to help us review and shape our recommendations about how ESRC: Economic and Social Research Council and ESRC-funded data services can support the data and research community for the rest of this decade and beyond. Date: Thursday 4th July 2024 Time: 14:00 – 16:00 Location: Zoom Duration: 2 hours including a break *About FDS* ESRC has been undertaking a strategic review of the data services landscape, including reviewing ESRC’s data service infrastructure investments. We have spoken to researchers, data owners, and staff working at the data services that we fund, to hear about how innovations in technology and data practices can improve sourcing, access and use of data. More information about the review can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eFdJmkh6 After reviewing evidence, we have now drafted a series of recommendations that we would like to sense-check with the wider research and data community. *About this workshop* We will present draft recommendations for three of the themes we’ve been looking at: ➡ data access ➡ people, organisation and culture ➡ public engagement We will ask workshop participants to provide feedback and ideas about our draft recommendations: are they feasible? are they ambitious? what have we missed? After the workshop, we will use your feedback to continue shaping these recommendations, which we anticipate will lead to new funding opportunities from 2025 onwards. *Why should you attend?* This workshop is aimed at: 🎯 researchers who use social science data for research 🎯 staff who work in data infrastructure to support researchers 🎯data owners who are responsible for the collection of data 🎯policymakers and others who advocate for use of data for research ESRC wants to ensure that the data services we invest in effectively support researchers and the data community, enabling the UK’s extensive and rich data resources to be maximised and continue to provide benefits for research and to the public for years to come.
