Dedicated cycle paths make our roads safer for everyone. Perth councils should invest far more than they do to create a more integrated network. I see so many road projects that are simply replacing a perfectly good road surface - no significant wear and tear - with fancier asphalt. It has all the hallmarks of justifying a budget and little to do with safety. By putting those funds towards dedicated cycle paths councils will make a meaningful difference for all road users.

Immediate dike restoration for protecting the nature reserve “Geltinger Birk” 🌳🦌 Following the devastating Baltic Sea storm surge last October, numerous damages were inflicted along the coast of Schleswig-Holstein by the storms. The “Geltinger Birk” nature reserve was also not spared: a dike breach led to the flooding of the hinterland and the complete destruction of the cycling and hiking trail on top the dike. Immediately, the engineers from Ingenieurbüro Mohn GmbH Beratende Ingenieure from Husum were tasked with planning the restoration of the dike section. Upon completion of the planning phase, the earthworks and civil engineering company Holger Pinn from Steinkirche was entrusted with the initial works in the affected coastal area. For the reconstruction of the dike, high-quality materials were utilized, including the filter geotextile Naue Secutex® H and geotextile sand containers Naue Secutex® Soft Rock. These materials provide a qualified substructure for the new dike cross-section and have passed strict BAW basic tests to ensure robustness, filtering effectiveness, and puncture resistance.
