Although the forecast in my area is primarily rain and flooding, now that I live in a place that can and does have hurricanes, I have been building my hurricane preparedness kit. I thought I'd share this list from Ready.gov (link in comments). Two items I would emphasize should move from "additional" supplies to "basic" supplies are prescription meds and important documents. I know many of you have experienced some gnarly weather-related disasters. What should go on this list that isn't there? How do you prepare your office, especially if you had to shelter in place? What home gadgets are a must have? What phone numbers should be saved in advance? What words of wisdom do you have?

😱 Should I be worried? 😥 ^^^^ Basically sums up all my emotions as the first news of hurricane Beryl swept our area. The earliest category 4 storm on record. Because I live near the Texas coast, my anxiety soared as I kept careful track of everything going on with the storm with the old lady name. At this point, you probably already know that America is getting off relatively easy, compared to other parts of the world. My area in particular she just swerved away from, thank goodness. But the fear was still there. And that fear inspired this little prototype. I just want an app that can swiftly answer the question "should I be worried about this hurricane?". In a 2-day sprint, I created an app concept that takes your location and returns relevant local weather, utilities and supplies data. Ultimately calculating whether or not you should in fact be worried right now. Not that logic has ever stopped a truly anxious person from anxious-ing (*ahem* I would know). BUT. Maybe this could help. What do you think? Would this help you? #uiuxdesign #productdesign #designsprint
