Eco-Products' Midwest Product & Zero Waste Specialist (PZW), Jamie Brown, recently talked with Luke Rosenbohm, Owner of Better Earth Logistics, about how our products break down in their stream 🌿. Contamination in compost streams is an issue we are determined to tackle. Our PZW Specialists work daily around the country with composters, haulers, and customers to make sure our BPI-Certified compostable products work seamlessly in their operations. Luke is a local hauler and composter based in Peoria, Illinois. Together Luke and Jamie are collaborating to work with Peoria businesses, universities, and corporate campuses. Luke has also chosen to be a distributor of Eco-Products because he trusts our products and the relationship he has formed with Jamie. Currently, they have worked together to support Knox College in Galesburg, IL to implement composting on campus using our CIRC Program (Controls Intended to Remove Contamination) toolkit. Better Earth Logistics picks up food waste and turns it into compost at their site. It is no secret to us that the compost industry needs financial support. This article dives deep on the current need for more composting facilities nationwide. Did you know that only 4% of food waste is getting composted in the United States? We are all working together to build the infrastructure to make composting more normal than landfilling our organics waste. It takes time, effort, and investment. #composting #industry #investing #greenjobs #infrastructure https://lnkd.in/dagvtqZR

[LAUNDRY] Sustainability isn't a new philosophy at Christeyns, in fact, it's in our DNA. 🌿 We have been collecting our water used during chemical pump deliveries at customer's sites for over a decade! After each chemical is pumped, the delivery pipework is washed out and by collecting the water we don't discharge on the customers premises and we can return the water back to Bradford for reuse in production. Of course, the water is mixed with residual chemical so needs collecting separately and categorising, but it's just another way that we think green! #sustainability #watersaving #thinkgreen #laundry

Recycling Update 2024 Speaker Showcase: Xinci Tan, Organics Program Manager at Zero Waste Sonoma! Join us at RU to learn from Xinci about "Solutions to satisfying SB 1383 procurement requirements." In Sonoma County where the economy is heavily agricultural and there is a mature compost market, Zero Waste Sonoma and our member jurisdictions must find innovative solutions to meet SB 1383 procurement targets while keeping costs low and minimizing competition for limited supply of finished compost. Through a variety of funding sources, we are able to increase local carbon sequestration, promote the benefits of compost to all sectors, and create education to address contamination concerns. More about: As the Organics Program Manager for the Joint Powers Authority (JPA) Zero Waste Sonoma, I lead the countywide implementation of state law Short-lived Climate Pollutants (SB 1383), and am involved in the County's efforts to permit and site a new composting facility, organize annual compost giveaway events, and manage several grants related to carbon sequestration and food recovery, among other responsibilities. Before I joined the compost industry, I earned a BS in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior from the University of Minnesota. My senior research project involved studying the mating behaviors of crickets! As “Nature’s Climate Champion,” compost reduces methane waste from landfills, adds carbon to soil, and manages water infiltration in landscapes. During the annual International Compost Awareness Week, we are reminded of the critical role compost plays in restoring local environments, building a greener future, and providing jobs, recycling opportunities and healthier crops. Without compost, Naturcycle would not exist. Our soil blends, green roof media, and other products are dependent on the great partnerships we have built. As this year’s ICAW concludes, we would like to recognize one of our composting partners, the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority. Their two facilities in northern New Jersey have excellent operators and make consistent high-quality compost. One site is enrolled in the US Composting Council’s Seal of Testing Assurance Program, and one site produces an Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) Listed compost product. We are proud to recognize the MCMUA today, as well as our other great partners throughout the Northeast for their excellent work! Why do we clean our clients' compost bins? Simplified Sustainability! Our mission here at Monster Organics is to make the composting process as easy as possible. Purpose built from inception, we found that the main objection to launching a commercial composting program was the stigma around what’s known as the “ick” factor… how gross a compost bin can get if not cleaned with some regularity – and we saw an opportunity to address it! When you sign up for a commercial composting program with Monster Organics, your bin is rinsed every time we service it – if we see any troublesome spots we will break out the brush or towel to address it. No more “ick” at the bottom of the bins to accumulate between services and cleaning is always included as part of our standard service. Reach out if you’re interested in learning more about how easy yet impactful a commercial composting program could be for your office, school, or any kind of commercial location…we’d love to talk with you!
