Is a VP role higher than a Director role? This common question can shape your career trajectory. Understanding corporate hierarchy is essential for growth. In many organizations, Vice Presidents (VPs) are senior to Directors. VPs usually oversee multiple departments or a significant area of the business, driving strategic initiatives and reporting directly to the C-suite, typically the CEO or COO. Directors, on the other hand, often manage specific departments and report to VPs or senior executives. This hierarchy reflects broader responsibilities and a higher level of strategic decision-making associated with VP roles compared to Director roles. However, titles and roles can vary between companies. Some organizations might have Senior Directors who hold responsibilities similar to VPs in other companies. Thus, it's important to understand the specific context within your organization. For job seekers aiming for career progression, knowing these distinctions can help in setting realistic goals and preparing for the responsibilities that come with higher positions. #CareerAdvice #JobSearch #Leadership #ProfessionalGrowth #CorporateHierarchy #ResumeWriter

Executive recruiter | Elevating talent acquisition & executive search initiatives | Helping leaders achieve success | 7 continent world traveler
What’s the true cost of a vacant leadership position? I continue talking to leaders at healthcare organizations, holding off on filling key leadership positions. While sometimes it’s a strategic decision, in other cases, they feel they can’t find the “right person” at the “right price.” As a result, they’re scraping by and putting tremendous strain on their remaining team members. At what cost? • concerns about organizational stability • missed growth opportunities • lowered productivity • security risks • decreased morale • burnout This all adds up to higher staff turnover and potentially lost revenue. Calculating the actual cost of a vacant executive position requires considering these factors and more. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to discuss what I’m seeing in the executive hiring market. #humanresources #hiringandpromotion #executivesandmanagement

This job post on LinkedIn caught my attention. We often talk about corporate leadership and hierarchy, but this one takes it to another level. When I clicked on other jobs from the same company, I saw a job opening for a junior Managing Director. This is both funny and sad because a CEO is supposed to be the leader of the organization. If they add layers like this, they are turning it into a managerial maze. And that is just sad! #corporatehiring #jobposting #deadhumor

When I took on my first management role, I told myself I wasn’t ready. It’s a story that I often recall to candidates who are considering their first board or management position. The reality is that you are being offered this position for a very good reason. You clearly possess the skills and experience to perform the role. The only limiting factor is your thoughts. Remember you've achieved the offer for a reason. Move forward and own it! #leadership #hiring #careerdevelopment

The reality of business is that leaders come and go. Nonetheless, leadership vacancies are still disruptive. Even more disruptive? Hiring the wrong fit. The wrong hire costs even more time, money and resources, negatively impacts team morale and places further burdens on the rest of your team. Interim leadership offers a great, short-term solution to keep operations on track so you can take the time you need to truly find the right permanent fit.
Filling vacant leadership roles? Easy. Filling vacant leadership roles with the right candidates? Not so much. When one of your leaders exits the organization, it can place a burden on the rest of your team and force you to make a rash hiring decision you'll only regret down the road. Don't act with haste. While you find the right permanent fit, hire an interim leader who can not only maintain order, but leave your organization better than they found it.
