All eyes are on San Diego, where the BIO International Convention has officially kicked off today, with Federal Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic MP joining the delegation to promote Australia’s $250-billion life sciences sector. After a weekend of pre-event networking, #TeamQueensland will be working the floor – with more than 18,500 people registered and 60,000 partnering meetings scheduled, the convention is an amazing way to build networks. This is the 25th year the Queensland government has sent a delegation to BIO: in 2024 we have 100 delegates from 57 organisations, who’ll be making sure everyone knows: ✅ Australia’s #LifeSciences sector is one of the largest in the southern hemisphere and constantly growing. ✅ Australia is one of the top 10 countries in the world for contributions to life sciences research, and our high-quality and innovative healthcare system supports a world-class medical research sector. ✅ Queensland, Australia was the incubator for the Gardasil® vaccine for human papillomavirus (HPV). ✅ The Australian Government provides support at each phase of the innovation pathway, including: 💸 The A$20 billion Medical Research Future Fund to address emerging health needs. 💸 The A$15 billion National Reconstruction Fund for manufacturing, with A$1.5 billion earmarked for medical manufacturing. 💸 The A$500 million Biomedical Translation Fund, which supports biomedical research commercialisation. 💸 A Research and Development Tax Incentive, which provides a tax offset of up to 43.5% on eligible R&D expenditure. With a pro-business government; proximity to Asian economies; a well-educated and skilled workforce; and enviable liveability, #Queensland is the perfect place to invest. It’s a strong message – all the best to delegates this week. It's going to be a BIG week! #RandDTaxIncentive #Networking #LSQMembers #BIO2024

📸 Today, at the #EITHealthSummit ( 📍 Rotterdam), presenting the new operational plan for innovation access in the Catalan Health System. Auria Albacete, representing #Biocat, has moderated a panel in which different stakeholders have presented this ground-breaking initiative, with: 🗣️ Ramon Maspons Bosch | Catalan Ministry of Health 🗣️ Xavier Cos | Catalan Institute of Health 🗣️ Enrique Hernández | Loop Dx 💡 The speakers have emphasized how important the paradigm shift is: the system must be able to define and share its needs, so that #innovators will be able to develop targeted solutions for unmet clinical needs. It is also paramount, according to the experts, to focus on a value-based #healthcare approach, prioritizing the impact on patients beyond the cost of the product. 🧐 Read the plan: https://tuit.cat/ZayQi 👉 #Biocat led the subcommittee responsible for designing the actions included in the plan.

🚀 #Catalunya leads the #PRECISEU project, the great project in personalized medicine of the Horizon Europe Program of the European Commission, which seeks to create an interregional ecosystem in personalized medicine and advanced therapies. 🔝 The initiative has 25 participating members from 12 European regions from 10 member states, as well as Ukraine, a country associated with the Horizon Europe program. Catalonia stands out as the region with the most partners, with #Biocat as the coordinator, in addition to the Departament de Salut, ACCIÓ, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and AstraZeneca. Allocated almost 23 million euros, this macro-project is one of the five winning projects of the competitive Regional Innovation Valleys (RIV) call for European #innovation ecosystems, and the only one in this field. The nearly 23 million euros for the project have been allocated equally between two key areas: 🔹 Approximately 11.5 million euros will be used to fund four innovative projects related to #health data and advanced therapies. To select the winning projects, a group of experts will be appointed to serve as a selection committee, using the same criteria as those of the Horizon Europe Programme. This initiative aims to fund between 25 and 50 European companies and organizations, depending on the size of the interregional consortia. Each will receive an average of nearly 3 million euros. 🔹The remaining 11.5 million euros will be used to implement strategic actions aimed at preparing health systems, improving access to innovation for patients, analyzing market needs, establishing collaboration platforms, and implementing training programs, all of which are essential to improving health and fostering innovation on a European scale. You will find all the information in the news on the Biocat website ⬇ 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dXmAV2UE 👀 Review PRECISEU's presentation at the Palau de la Generalitat: https://lnkd.in/dzVvakDu
