Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) consists in acknowledging the existence of prior knowledge that conscientious educators can use to motivate All Learners. The new learners consist of students who are new to the education system, to the learning environment, and are in need of a facilitator. The Computational Thinking (CT) Components help enhance the task for both teachers and students. This was my second year presenting at Common Ground Maryland. I put a lot of emphasis on teachers facilitating and enhancing All Learners' abilities to solve problems. They can use available and accessible Computer Science (CS) tools such as scratch, makecode.micro:bit and other educational software like the book creator app, quizizz and more. If you teach an online course or training synchronously over a platform like Zoom or Teams and you’re frustrated by a lack of enagagement, you might consider using a “backchannel.” Inspired by Derek Bruff and Discords for YouTube streamers, I have been using backchannels in synchronous online classes since 2020.
