The sailing draft in Argentina continues to put pressure on larger ships, despite a relatively flat market with limited options for owners in the region, and they remain in a big question, let's say, that they need to look for alternatives. Our research noticed that a number of Ultramax vessels have chosen to fix cargoes in Argentina to load 44k size, instead of picking up stems in Brazil with a larger sizes, where Brazilian ports would naturally load 54/56k full corn intake.
A large number of top-offs with Kamsarmax/Panamax vessels has been observed.
Out of the 26 ships currently loading 40/44k size (present today in the lineup), 16 are Kamsarmax/Panamax (likely for topoff out of NP/Necochea), 4 are Ultramax, and 6 are Supramax.
For Handysize vessels, we have a very interesting observation on how demand pressures and flattens the daily hire rates for this size of Ship
