Against the buzzy background fog of extreme interest in AI and elections, the specific manner in which AI-synthesized tactics impact elections in 2024 will unfold in ways that we haven’t yet predicted. The scale and rapid pace of change is likely to lead to manipulation “scripts” that we haven’t even anticipated yet. With that in mind, it’s more important than ever to monitor elections around the world that are already happening. They are the real-world laboratories to gather data and see the novel types of AI-associated tactics that can be employed (especially in crisis situations). These will provide clues on current weaknesses and potentional responses. This will remain a moving target throughout 2024. Silicon Valley and AI developers … are you watching?
