After a year of providing mental health crisis response, here are some of my main take-aways... - Active listening without judgement helps. - Leading with curiosity works. - A lot of people are unaware of existing mental health resources. Inviting them in empowers people to seek help. - Navigating the resources can be overwhelming. Simplicity and modeling how to access resources removes some of the barriers. - A few moments of kindness can make a big difference. - Mental health crises occur across all spectrums of people. - People respond well to authenticity and respect. - Respecting people is not radical. It's a fundamental aspect of good practice. - People are amazingly resilient. - Follow-up matters.

According to a 2021 National Institute of Mental Health study, more than one in five (more than 57 million) adults live with a mental illness in the U.S. alone. With so many people affected, mental health issues are likely to touch you or someone you know, whether in your personal life or in the workplace. Check-in on people around you and take care of your mental health by practicing self-care, such as engaging in activities that bring you joy and relaxation. #MentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness
