Friend 1: Boss! I really want to move to the strategic level of management; I'm sick and tired of sitting at the desk and coding all day. I'm more of a people person and I'd like to drive things. Friend 2: Hmm, sounds interesting. But why do you want to transition now and what’s your plan? Friend 1: Oh, I'm planning to pursue an MBA in General Management or consulting or product development. I want to get into a mid-management role where I can lead and drive initiatives. You should join me; we both can do an MBA from an Ivy League or ISB, and one day, we'll be CEOs of top companies. Friend 2: I like the thought very much, but I love coding, and I see myself retiring as a senior programmer or a computer architect. Leading teams or strategic planning is not my cup of tea. I find joy in sitting down and coding, making an impact in my own way. Friend 1: Hmm, interesting! So, what's your plan, bud? How do you intend to take this forward? Friend 2: Well, I want to pursue an MS in Computer Science with a specialization in AI or ML. This way, I can make a greater contribution to technological developments. Above is a conversation inspired from our sessions we've had with our students from technology background. Interestingly, friend 1 is the one who gets burnt out in a coding job and wants to go for an MBA, while the other friend loves coding. The key takeaway here is that one size doesn't fit all. Choose a program that aligns with your interests, personality, and the type of work you would love doing. Self-introspect before making a crucial decision to pursue a graduate program. We're always happy to help and offer a Discovery Session aimed at helping you find your fit. Get in touch- https://lnkd.in/d4_epivK

Marching towards “Mentoring A Million” – Impact study of my book “Achieving Meaningful Success: Unleash the power of ME!” Illustrations of students actioning their learnings: (Post 1 of 2) 1.“In my first year of engineering, I have outlined both short and long-term goals for myself. My immediate focus lies in mastering the fundamentals of coding by the time I graduate. This proficiency will serve as a foundational skill, empowering me to leverage technology adeptly in problem-solving scenarios." 2.“Goal setting for me is about envisioning the life I desire, one that intersects with both my skills and the demands of the market. Reflecting, I realize the importance of this clarity early on. Back in grade 9th, I wish I had read this book. At that crucial juncture, I was uncertain about my path, unaware of the significance of aligning my strengths with market trends. Often, we chose streams without this foresight. Now, I understand that defining my goals based on my aptitudes and market demand is key to building a fulfilling and prosperous career.” 3.“Before reading the book, I used to feel really down if I didn't get good grades despite putting in tons of effort. But after reading it, I learned not to dwell too much on failure. Instead, I focus on identifying my mistakes and fixing them. Now, am seeing a big improvement in my grades because I see failure as a chance to learn and grow.” 4.“During breaks between semesters in engineering, we typically have about a week off. In my first year, I would spend those holidays sleeping, hanging out with friends, and wasting time without doing anything productive. However, after reading the book, I've changed my approach. Now, I make sure to use my holidays to plan out my short-term goals for the next semester and write them down. I keep these goals posted on the bulletin board in my room throughout the semester, which helps keep me on track. Additionally, I regularly monitor my progress against these goals to ensure I stay focused and productive.” 5.“After reading the book, I realized that change doesn't have to wait for someone else to initiate, I can lead as well. So, I took charge of the situation at our girls' hostel where the food quality was a common complaint. I spoke to the mess in charge and rallied fellow hostellers to form a committee. After persistent efforts and discussions, we successfully influenced improvements in the mess food quality.” #yournest #mentoring #success #excellence #MentorAMillion #PMO #innovation #inspiration #entrepreneurs #professionals #students #sattva #yuvaunstoppable
