CORAL RESTORATION FUNDING OPPORTUNITY: Are you implementing nature-based solutions or community resilience solutions in your work? Coral reef restoration work is a perfect fit for this! The Chubb Charitable Foundation is currently accepting proposals from organizations that are implementing climate resilience solutions that have been tested and found effective in strengthening the resilience of the natural environment and/or vulnerable communities. In particular, the Chubb Charitable Foundation seeks to support time-bound projects with long-term sustainability in one of the following areas: - Nature-based solutions that are focused on land conservation or the protection, restoration, or expansion of systems including coastal wetlands, oyster reefs, mangroves, and/or coral reefs. - Agricultural resilience solutions that are focused on helping smallholder farmers outside of the United States transition to restorative practices and/or be better positioned to absorb and recover from climate-related impacts. - Community resilience solutions that are strengthening the climate resilience of community infrastructure and/or connecting community members to green jobs. Thriving nature is essential to healthy cities and communities, but nature is not always considered during the planning process. A Greenprint is an innovative science-based conservation planning framework that reveals the values and benefits of nature and nature-based solutions in community planning. While greenprinting has been adopted across the globe, the resources and guidance to create them and streamline their success have not been easily accessible. This is why TNC created the new Greenprint Resource Hub. The Greenprint Resource Hub compiles the guidance, resources, and strategies necessary for developing and launching a greenprint. This site is a treasure trove of knowledge vital for planners, policymakers, and the public to address community challenges through nature-based solutions. Check out the resource hub to discover the benefits of a greenprint, learn the process for scoping and developing a greenprint, and understand the science and data needs as well as the varying approaches to successful community outreach. The hub offers over 95 examples of greenprints from as close as the Bay Area to as far as Chennai, India. https://nature.ly/3UJd0gD

“We did not own the land, we belonged to it.” This Nonprofit Quarterly article highlights stories of land reclamation and healing justice from 2023, and articulates "how land recovery (described within the frameworks of land rematriation and land reclamation) can be a healing process, how land can anchor power building." Including news from the Winnemem Wintu Tribe and grantee partners Sogorea Te Land Trust, Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples among others, this comprehensive read underlines the reasons why supporting land return is a multi-impactful approach to supporting Indigenous nations and BIPOC communities. https://lnkd.in/gppeJ68y #SpiritualEcology

Owner\Founder - Rheos Environmental Consulting - Flood and Water Solutionist - Flood Risk Visual Asset Inspection (T98) Accredited
An important document setting out the way forward for a healthier and more vibrant natural environment for #somerset - good references and linkages to the importance of the health of the water environment in achieving that. Linkages across to the aims and ambitions outlined in other key documents (local flood risk management strategy), and more emphasis on the huge opportunities for nature restoration in the urban realm through planning improvements and retrofit will be important to emphasise.

In their own words: Guardians does what others say “can’t” be done. That’s the same cloth I’m cut from — challenging the status quo, strategically going after what the planet and people really need, and steering clear of false solutions. In other words, Guardians likes to kick ass and so do I! - Hop Hopkins, Executive Director WildEarth Guardians guardians aspire to give a voice to natural landscapes and wildlife, as well as stand in solidarity with Frontline and Indigenous communities. From the Gila Wilderness to the Cascade foothills, they take on challenges that reform state wildlife agencies and reimagine the future of our public lands. Initiative to save all the Quiet places in the world Yeah, It's true When I first learned about this organization, I was so confused, like, how are they saving quiet places? So, here it is Quiet Parks International (QPI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving natural quiet for the benefit of all life. Founded by the renowned acoustic ecologist Gordon Hempton. QPI works on a number of fronts to protect and restore quiet: ✅QPI has developed a rigorous certification program for natural areas that meet specific criteria for quietude. Currently, there are 14 certified Quiet Parks around the world. ✅ QPI works with governments and communities to develop and implement policies that reduce noise pollution. ✅ QPI educates the public about the importance of quiet and the threats it faces. One of QPI's most innovative initiatives is the creation of Urban Quiet Parks. These are areas within or near cities that have been designated as protected quiet spaces. And the best part is that QPI hosts a variety of quiet experiences that align with their values and principles. Forest bathing walks Sound walks Quiet retreats Nature journaling or sketching Stargazing sessions What are your thoughts on this? Do let me know in the comments. #quiet #naturelovers #nature

SATURDAY MORNING (APRIL 20TH) at 10:30 AM our amazing Who I Am Foundation volunteers in #Albuquerque will be having our next Community Clean-Up (ABQ)! LOCATION TO BE DETERMINED. WE ARE OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS! NO OPEN-TOED SHOES Cleaning up loose trash is one of the best ways to pitch in for your community and the environment. Volunteering as a means to help conserve and protect the environment has a lot of upsides. Of course, the first is that you’ll be taking care of our planet, and it badly needs a little love given the myriad ways in which we’ve become adept at destroying it. But beyond that, volunteering for a cause you care about is a great way to meet like-minded people, make friends, and pull yourself out of the blues that sometimes accompany caring a lot about something important – especially if you feel alone in your endeavors. None of us like the sight of litter. Litter spoils the look of where we live but that’s not the only reason for picking up litter. There are a number of benefits from picking up litter that you may not have considered before. Volunteer-led projects such as these are one of the quickest, simplest, and least expensive ways to inspire more community spirit and civic action. A visually appealing community increases property values, attracts businesses, and improves the neighborhood's image. Beauty is one of the three most influential factors in community attachment, which means loyalty, to your particular town or city. Some research even shows that a nice-looking neighborhood promotes good behavior. Join us in keeping your community clean! For more information: https://lnkd.in/g2ByASKE #TeamWhoIAm_Albuquerque

Below is my interesting biometric WHOOP data for July 4th, a day that included working an 8-hour shift as a Sauna Master. Executive Brief: You burn a shocking number of calories spending that much time in the sauna. Why? Increased heart rate, sweating, thermoregulation, elevated metabolism, post-sauna calorie burn as the body works harder to cool down and return to a normal state. Job Responsibilities: Ensured the wood-burning sauna was kept warm with optimal humidity. Entertained guests in the sauna with stories and sauna facts. Kept cold plunge stocked with ice. Whoop Data: Strain: 19.4 (strain between 18 and 21 represents near maximal cardiovascular load). Calories Burned: 5,135 Average Heart Rate: 94 (30-day average is 73 bpm) Resting Hear Rate: 75 (30-day average is 59 bpm) Heart Rate Variability: 61 ms (30-day average is 62)
At Sauna House, we are passionate about building community and giving back. As a 1% for the Planet member, we support organizations like the Eno River Association, an accredited land trust and conservation nonprofit dedicated to conserving and protecting the natural, historical, and cultural resources of the Eno River Basin. Recently, we held our first mobile sauna activation in Durham, North Carolina, during the Festival for the Eno. We offered free sauna and cold plunge sessions to the community while supporting a great cause. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with our community members before our Durham bathhouse opens this September. We look forward to more exciting activations this summer to spread good vibes and give back. ❤️ #DurhamNC #SaunaHouse #Community #CommunityBuilding
