What is #PeopleExperience? 🤔 This April, our People and Talent Acquisition Team was rebranded as "People Experience Team". We spoke with our Director of People Experience Clara to learn more about the meaning of this name: 💡“With the Agile Coaches joining our department this year, we sought a new name that better reflects our joint mission. At Oetker Digital, we see our colleagues not merely as “employees” but as individuals with fulfilling lives outside of work. Each person brings their own unique personalities, interests, skills, and quirks to the table. After growing her Product career at Booking.com, our keynote speaker Evie Brockwell made the switch into Product consultancy. 3+ years ago, I reached out to Mert Salur on LinkedIn out of the blue after seeing Getir announce its intent to launch in markets outside of Turkey. A week later, Turancan Salur offered me my dream job, building a service I loved and used – since then, (1) I had the opportunity to launch the biz in the UK and US, (2) had several roles across functions including operations, transformation, people and partnerships (3) was part of our post-merger integration efforts; all while making some real friendships along the way. Recently, my ride with getir ended. It’s been talked about enough but I wanted to share a personal experience I had at the company: During my time at getir, I lost my granddad and dad after multiple bouts of sickness. The founders and leadership gave me the time and space to be with my family, and made room for the uncertainty that came with it all - emotionally and logistically. I know plenty of immigrants like me who don't have that privilege. I didn't just have a great time career-wise at getir, I knew that the people I worked with and for always had my back. There's a long list of people to thank for that starting with Turancan Salur and including Elif Çar, Berker Yağcı, Ahmet Dedeoğlu, Sadık Gençoğlan, Vishal Verma, Selin Barlin Aral, Metin Hacıoğlu, Insia Valika, Ceyda Erten among others. As much as I'd have liked this journey to end a different way, this has reinforced a sense of urgency for me - life feels too short not to (try to) spend it on what you love. I am really excited to pivot my own career now - In the last few months, I’ve had the chance to explore something I've always dreamt of - artist management - alongside some real legends in the UK music scene. Thank you Sonnyjim and Pavan Mukhi for taking a leap of faith in me! In mid-2015 I was leading a team of product managers at Vodafone UK and was trying to pull together another late-night portfolio update for the leadership team. Our roadmaps were in different formats, it was difficult to show traceability into strategy and creating a rolled-up portfolio view was manual and time consuming. I knew there had to be a better way, so I began to explore various product management capabilities for the team. There are many roadmapping tools in the marketplace, many of which get manipulated into doing something they weren’t designed for. Nothing seemed to cater well for product and portfolio management activities or made sharing information with stakeholders easy. Almost giving up, I crossed off yet another issue management tool and signed up for an Aha! trial. Within a short period of time, I could see that Aha! was organised exactly around the way that my product and portfolio teams think. The functionality was vast, and it was clear it would instantly meet our current needs as well as providing wider functionality to make our product management processes more robust in the future. My search had ended. Over the coming weeks Aha! united our product function and soon we were able to deliver full portfolio level roadmaps instantly yet targeted towards diverse stakeholder audiences. Hugely excited about the transformative effects this had on my team, I took a leap of faith and founded Roadmap Heroes in 2016 so that I could help other professionals just like you to discover the benefits of effective roadmapping.
