We've joined forces with Octopus Energy to launch Electrify Britain, a pioneering campaign organisation dedicated to driving down bills and eliminating #CO2 emissions from home heating, transport and local communities through widespread electrification. Our CEO, Simone Rossi, said: "There is no time to wait. We need more electricity but less CO2, we need to Electrify Britain. The first priority is to make electricity pricing fair by rebalancing policy costs, and the second is to ensure new homes are green and electric from day one. The future is electric, and we need to act now." Read more: https://ow.ly/ocjP50SCfAO #NetZero

The electrification revolution is spreading across Europe, as potential in electric heat and transport is being realised. Electrification technology is well advanced, and many EU countries have shot ahead in terms of their electric heat and transport. For Ireland as we grow our renewable generation moving to the electrification is the obvious choice. In Ireland Electrified we see the potential and are advocating for the changes needed to support the transition form fossil fuels. #irelandelectrified #electrification #electricheat #heating #evs #electrictransport
Today we’re announcing that we’re forming Electrify Britain, in partnership with Octopus Energy. Electrify Britain is focused on achieving net zero through electrification looking primarily at heating, transport and support for decarbonising local communities. When Greg Jackson and I met a few months ago, it became quickly apparent that we have similar views about the importance of electrification and the obstacles we face to carry it out. Our organisations together represent more than 10 million accounts and are well placed to understand customers’ needs and expectations. With Electrify Britain, we want to provide a unified and impactful voice to speed up the electrification of Britain. This partnership marks our commitment to lead the 'electric revolution' and accelerate the future electricity system for our customers. "There's been so much focus on electrifying generation, but not enough on electrifying end use, where customers can make significant savings" - Greg Jackson. Octopus Energy and EDF have joined forces to launch a new campaign organisation, "Electrify Britain", which will look to drive down bills and cut emissions by prioritising four areas: ◾ Making electricity pricing fair ◾ Electrifying home heat ◾ Electrifying transport ◾ Electrifying communities "Electric cars on a smart tariff cost 7 times less per mile than a petrol car. People with heat pumps usually pay less than those with gas boilers and they rate their heat pump higher. It’s time for us to seize the benefits of electrification for British customers," says Jackson, Octopus Energy CEO. I think this is brilliant 😊 my no1 goal is to help as many residential householder save money via Solar PV & Battery Storage. Let’s hope by the 2 pairing up can make a huge difference. Lets remember though. Most house holds that buy solar are working. It’s all great having tariffs that COULD help save money. We need tariffs that WILL save money. I mean provide cheaper energy prices when the working class has finished work. Last thing people need is to be coming home cooking etc at higher rates.

It was excellent to see Octopus and EDF Energy join forces to launch their Electrify Britain campaign, dedicated to driving down bills and eliminating emissions from home heating, transport and local communities through widespread electrification. We're right there with them, urging the government to stop punishing electrification. It's time to get those policy costs off our electricity bills. They outline the key priorities as: Make Electricity Pricing Fair Electrify Home Heat Electrify Transport Electrify Communities We think it’s time to make the switch and electrify your life... #electrification #fairpricing #electrifyhomeheat #electrifyyourlife #electrifytransport #electrifycommunities #electrifybritain https://bit.ly/4bO1c1l

🔋 News Update: Electrify Britain Initiative Launched! 🌍 EDF and Octopus Energy have joined forces to launch Electrify Britain, a bold new organization aimed at reducing energy bills and emissions throughout the UK. This initiative will focus on four key priorities: Make Electricity Pricing Fair: Reduce policy costs on electricity bills, currently around 17% of total bills compared to 6% on gas bills. This will also involve incentivising investment, and supporting vulnerable customers who are currently unable to electrify. Electrify Home Heat: Promote heat pumps and other clean heating technologies, ending the installation of gas boilers in new homes. Electrify Transport: Expand EV infrastructure and offer innovative tariffs to make electric vehicle ownership more accessible and affordable. Electrify Communities: Implement community energy projects to foster energy independence and resilience, including increasing solar rooftop installations and encouraging local generation and consumption of low-carbon energy. The partnership between EDF Energy and Octopus Energy aims to accelerate the UK's transition to a sustainable and economical energy future, benefiting both consumers and the environment. "[I]t is undoubtedly hugely ambitious to get to clean power by 2030. It requires not only for us to do everything that we can do quicker, but also very, very differently as well.” ⛵ We've always known that 'business as usual' isn't going to cut it if the UK is to meet its clean energy targets. Now there's finally some wind in our sails—we can't let it go to waste. Time for bold action and a ground-up rethinking of our energy infrastructure. Let's get to work. https://hubs.li/Q02RCwG70

Great example of mismanaging energy transition communication to the Great Public November 2023 https://lnkd.in/ebkUfD5r The transition to EVs is happening … and we’re ready March 2024 https://lnkd.in/ed22rFzR “It’s critical that this investment is delivered quickly. This will require coordinated action from transmission owners, government and Ofgem, including ensuring that the planning system is not a blocker to delivery. The communities hosting this infrastructure must also see direct benefits from its deployment.” Everyone knew that the investment was necessary, even the November piece from the National Grid mentioned the "Great Grid Upgrade" (but of course you had to click through a link in the text to find it which 95% of the public and the media wouldn't). £58 bn is on top of the existing £60 bn of planned upgrades to 2030 - and dwarfs the investment in HS2 which was so controversial. And yet there is no informed debate with the public on delivering energy policy, only platitudes about % reduction and target dates.

Blue skies, solar energy powering your home... it's a gorgeous shot from one of our residential installs, but what does the change in Government mean for renewables for homes, businesses and communities? We've spotted an article that brings a lot of it together in Current-news.co.uk and you can find that right here: https://lnkd.in/gNXTjktw Energy Secretary, Ed Miliband, has set out that the mission is "to make Britain a clean energy superpower with zero carbon electricity by 2030, and accelerating our journey to net zero" with these priorities: - Boosting energy independence and cutting bills through clean power by 2030 - Taking back control of energy with Great British Energy - Upgrading Britain’s homes and cutting fuel poverty through the Warm Homes Plan - Standing up for consumers by reforming the energy system - Creating good jobs in Britain’s industrial heartlands, including a just transition for the industries based in the North Sea - Leading on international climate action, based on domestic achievements From our perspective, we are looking forward to hearing more about how these priorities will manifest themselves in action, to achieve a cleaner, greener county for everyone. #renewables #solar #jojusolar #jojucharging #cleanenergy #homes #businesses #communities
