Heysham 2 #nuclear power station is celebrating reaching an important milestone this week. 🎉 First connected to the grid in 1988, the station has now generated an impressive 300TWh of reliable, low-carbon electricity, all from a site smaller than a square mile! That’s the equivalent of powering every home in Lancashire for 147 years and is a testament to the professionalism, expertise and dedication of the Heysham 2 team. EDF is continuing to invest in nuclear to help reduce carbon emissions, secure the UK’s energy future and help Britain achieve #NetZero. Find out more: https://ow.ly/hEqu50SzrxB #NetZeroNeedsNuclear
HYB and TOR represent the pinnacle of the AGR concept. Both outstanding sites and it would be great to see them extended beyond 2028.
We didn't do a bad building and commissioning?
Well do to all involved from the team here at NE Components. We have been a proud supplier of fuel stringer components to Heysham and the entire UK AGR fleet since the beginning and will be until decommissioning. Nuclear generation, both existing and new, is vital as we move toward net zero carbon emissions. Keep up the great work AGR's and lets forge ahead with new UK developed, built and fuelled nuclear generation.
What a milestone; well done Heysham 2. I remember crawling around the reactor (before it was fuelled) during its build. Also, I have happy memories of helping with hiccups during its years of generation.
Always been a great site with great people. Keep it going for as many years as you can folks.
Well done team! I’ll always be grateful of the opportunity to take part in a site tour including the onsite visitor centre.
Lovely gang of people there especially the ladies in HR and Training. Always made me feel welcome on the occasion I was there
Been on both 1&2 Discharge sampler services. Quite a few years back .
I helped with the commissioning when I was a student working for NNC. I think that was the summer of ‘87.
