this is not just in paris it is all over the world that the rivers are not clean. all is becuase of factories using the river as their trash can. this is why ESG reporting is very important. we must check companies and factories and manufactureres not just by the profit line but also how they effect on the area they located. The Olympics has started and not without its controversy. However, is it doing better on the sustainability front than its predecessors? Whilst the 1924 Games saw no considerations for environmental sustainability, the Paris 2024 is set to be the "greenest" (using this term lightly) Olympics yet, featuring eco-friendly infrastructure and initiatives. The 2023 Rugby World Cup, which kicks off in France on Friday, will be the first edition of the tournament to be held since World Rugby unveiled targets to halve its emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2040. Initiatives will include a ‘green mobility platform’ offering fans all available eco-friendly travel solutions, such as carpooling, green taxis, scooters and electric buses. However, as with almost all global sports tournaments, the total emissions from the air travel used by players, spectators, media, fans and everyone else involved will pose the biggest challenge when it comes to reducing the game's carbon footprint. And with World Rugby reported to be considering expanding its flagship tournament from 20 to 24 teams from 2031, when the USA will be the host, that challenge is likely only to get bigger. With the 2027 edition taking place in Australia, the size of the host countries also means the next two World Cups are likely to involve significant amounts of internal air travel. We can't fight climate change individually - collective action on a global level is needed. That's why last week, together with Atomic, we invited to the first ski industry climate summit. A lot of people and brands followed our call. Luckily – because it means that many believe that together we can be successful in our common fight for a positive future. And this summit is not only a first step, it actually shows the way! So thanks everybody for attending it. We want to encourage everyone to keep up the good work. And to do even more: after all, the snowsports industry relies on climate action more than any other sport or sector!
