🔋💧 We recently hosted the “Critical Aspects of Financing Green Hydrogen Forum” in Brisbane alongside the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and thyssenkrupp nucera. A panel of experts from across the green hydrogen industry shared their insights on the evolving market and the key factors needed to make projects financially viable. Our discussions with Alana Barlow, Dr. Hans Dieter Hermes, Steve Quilter, Dr. Johann Rinnhofer, Michael Volkermann, and keynote speaker Fiona Simon emphasised the essential role of hydrogen in achieving net-zero goals. With challenges like the costs of electrolysers, renewable energy, and capital, the panel expects the industry to innovate to bridge the gap between production costs and what users are willing to pay. 🗨️ “Low-emission hydrogen has an important role in the clean energy transition, and while there are hurdles to overcome, collaboration between developers, financiers, and policymakers is crucial,” said Bree Bailey, from our Deutsche Bank Corporate Bank team. Is it a good idea to invest in green hydrogen? 💧 The green hydrogen market is booming. All eyes are on it because of its significant advantages in addressing the major challenge of climate change. 🌱 The EU wants to reach 40 GW of electrolysers and 20 million tonnes of renewable hydrogen by 2030 to achieve energy independence. The IPCEI Hy2use project is providing €5 billion for 35 projects in 13 countries. But investment in green hydrogen has risks. The technologies are expensive and there is a lack of infrastructure.
